I have 1 toon on era and i just leveled him to 60 and having a lot of fun and there is so much to do. my “thing” is PVP and i’m on “ana” (synced with whitemane). i have seen a lot of posts basically saying leave eta alone and dont make changes. I agree with that as I have a lot to do because im sorta new to Era.
my question is how long could a person stay in Era without any changes?
Personally? I would go play the seasonal servers, which I am playing. I would also play other games, and other versions of the game, which I do.
If I was looking for a long-term home on Classic Era servers to play with others who were doing the same thing, I would most likely look into the adventures of Jarl from Grobbulus and see if there would be a place for me among their crew…
On the other hand, if I was continuously chasing a fresh experience, but within the more-or-less OG Classic Era world of Azeroth, I would have a look into what Alodar is stirring up over on Deviate Delight
If on the other hand, I wanted to play with others on the largest clusters, I might check out Whitemane and either make some goals for my characters and go for them, or just hang out.
One thing I wouldn’t do is hop into WoW Classic Era, wanting new content and expecting to find it there.
so most of what you suggested other than Naxx, you wold go play another server and leave era alone and call it a museum to visit sometimes?
as far as Naxx, yes good content and that will take some time. but after Naxx?
He was speaking of the Era servers of Grobbulus and Deviate Delight. You wouldn’t be leaving Era.
If you want added content that is not currently in Era, you may want to give SoD another shot as well as voice opinions constructively regarding improvements or features you wish to see.
Because yes - Era is a museum piece.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways to freshen it up. Snipy suggested an excellent one with the Deviate Delight project.
Best of luck to you.
Me personally? Yes, I would, because that is what I do. I’m not suggesting that you copy what I do.
Perhaps someone else can offer some stories about what they do, or would do if you’re looking for some inspiration from others for how to enjoy Classic Era servers right now, and don’t want to chart your own course.
Pvp only gets better, especially when good players are enjoying WSG or world pvp. It is lots of fun.
Personally when I am bored i just take a break, play hardcore, or make an alt.
There’s no rush to get anything done, but when you want to enjoy the game - it is there and ready, and no matter how long the break your character can still pvp competitively.
I level. I love the zones, the feel and the whole world of Vanilla. Right now I am mostly playing HC, which for me is also Era. When my fave trio Ally side has made it to 60 (so far 1 60 other 2 in their 20es) I’ll do the same horde side, and then go on until I have levelled all the race/class combos I like (this means no Rogues and no Undead).
That is also what I did before HC launched. Only it’s more fun when you cannot “cheat” if you die from reasons outside your control (DC mainly).
I am also a completionist, trying to da all quests, get all recipes etc.
I hope eventually to make it to running dungeons - maybe even raids, but I’m afraid I am so slow that everybody else have stopped playing when I am finally ready.
MMORPGs are about creating your own adventures in a persistent virtual world inhabited by other players.
One could stay here forever if the playloop became mainly player-driven rather than story-driven.
EVE Online is 21 years old and the universe size has not changed in any meaningful way in over a decade. Certainly the most populated systems are the same as they were ‘back them’.
