Anyone else agree? I’m prepared to play whatever game old blizzard makes at this point.
It won’t be the same. If they want it to be successful, it has to follow a new model. Microtransactions, probably free to play. Probably some fast paced action game. Wouldn’t be surprised if its similar to Destiny or Overwatch with RPG elements.
im waiting on ashes of creation tbh. Hopefully it comes out as tbc is ending for a smooth transition
My belief is that the old devs had talent. Even if they do some things we don’t like, they will make a good game.
Thats literally what we’re getting with Classic WoW.
Hey, remember that game made by the old Megaman creators…?
No, classic wow is headed by people who have failed at every project they’ve ever ran.
The amount of money they have made would say otherwise to them failing.
They’ve traded short term profits for long term player engagement. There was a report released by blizzard that said something like they lost 25% of their players the last few years.
Mighty No 9? I’m a massive Megaman fan, and boy did that game disappoint.
I’d say millions of subs isn’t failing at every project. Bad decisions? Sure. End product isn’t the worst though.
Doesnt matter they made more money that as a business means they are not failing. Furthermore 25% of player retention is down because of many factors 1 being how long the current shadowlands patch is. Another being that they normally lose a good chunk of players after a few months of any new expansion.
That was across ALL blizzard games. Diablo 3, OW, Hearhstone, and WoW. Granted 25% is still a lot of players from Blizzards numbers. OW in particular has lost a ton of players recently due to some poor choices on updates. Diablo has been hemorraging players for years, its old and season resets aren’t enough to keep players engaged.
Even if they are making more money it doesn’t mean it’s good for players. Riot is the modern company that best compares to old blizzard. I’m going to follow whoever is making good games for the players not who is making something profitable for themselves.
You are wrong. Dead wrong!
You become successful in business by providing something customers want. The customers want a great MMO to play and there isn’t one. Mike wants to build an Old Blizzard again from the ground up before Activision ruined it. This is what customers want and will support it.
So all we do now is wait… It will happen and it will be awesome.
Nope. We need fresh blood not people who have no motivation to make great fun games.
Theyre both wealthy and have no real motivation to invest 1000s of hours into R&D for a new game.
Of course there isn’t one, the MMO model died out about 8 years ago. Thats why they won’t be making an MMO. I’m sure it’ll have MMO properties (like Destiny) but it won’t be similar to WoW, that I can guarantee you.
Most customers don’t want an old style MMO, that’s the problem. The ADHD kids these days want fast paced shooters. They aren’t interested in swords and fantasy, magic and exploration.
I’d pay attention to dreamheaven,
Its mike trying to redeem himself after selling his soul to the cooperate devil
That’s true, most people always say they like to do something new but always go back to WoW or WoW clones. Very few people play and stay on non-WoW like MMOs., people want just want their own version of WoW.
The MMORPG genre needs an overhaul but no one really knows how. It needs to retain RPG elements but seem new. The only ideas seem to be with action based gameplay like ESO, which usually (always) sucks.
Once they successfully innovate gameplay I suppose they can build around that.
