I'm ready for a new MMO from Blizzard, without Activision

So you’re saying they could go back to game design like it was in 2004-2010 without cutting cost?

Im saying that this meme that somehow Activision is influencing Blizzard game design has been well and truly debunked.

These “sources” wont be named and they have no proof to back it up…also note they are ex staff with their own axe to grind. Id take that article with a grain of salt…a BIG ONE.

BTW, “cutting costs” can easily refer to getting rid of old practices, removing deadwood ( see ex staffers…hmmmmm ), cutting back on excess spending, finding cheaper suppliers that dont cost an arm and a leg, doing more in house than outsourcing… managing budgets better…see where this is going?

Cutting cost to me refers to pruning, class design, tier and pvp sets for each class.

Where has it been debunked that Activision isn’t influencing Blizzard? I only see the opposite.

Nope.

Much bigger picture.

Where Ythisens flatly stated it wasnt true.

Can you elaborate more instead of just saying nope?

Where is this blue post you’re talking about?

Where is this blue post you’re talking about?

In the thread you are reading.

Which thread?

Look up in this thread.

Post 29.

nope, WoW has never been better and its alls I need

I’m hoping that’s exactly what Bonfire is working on.

Never going to happen, MMOs just dont have the appeal anymore and as long as mobile games keep brining in 100s of millions with just basic cash grab loot box designs i dont expect anything large scale like that for awhile.

They would just turn it into Overwatch again, like the last one.

You will NEVER see a new MMORPG from Blizzard. I’m surprised other people are making new ones. My prediction is that the plug is pulled on at least one of them, before even getting to market. The other ones will fail in 1-2 years.

ESO seems like the “fluke”, of a newer MMORPG that made it. I think it was a combination of it also being on console, as well as “voluntary” subs; This was the genius thing where you CAN pay 15 bucks a month, which gets you 1500 crowns to spend in the store, but you don’t have to.

For the people who paid the sub right along, racking up the crowns(in ESO), they were pleasantly surprised when “Housing” came along and they could use crowns for it.

The system works, in that game, because they have MANY more mount/mog/pet items in their store (than Wow.) Then they make the whole thing voluntary, letting the player pay a sub (for those crowns) if they wish, or they could just pay for crowns to buy stuff from the store, or they could just not pay at all and just play the game (after the initial purchase.)

He doesn’t confirm or deny anything in his post.

Read it again. Yes he does. If that isnt good enough for you I dont know what is.

He doesn’t understand the implication players are talking about when it comes to that topic. He also doesnt respond when it is clarified for him.

Classic WoW

Wont happen, the MMO market is saturated there’s no ROI in it… only reason why World of Warcraft is where it’s at there was hardly any choice in the MMO Market at the time …MMO’s were relatively new… and wow got lucky.

So why does everyone keep saying “Activision is ruining Blizzard” if Activision doesn’t have anything to do with Blizzard?

Ythisens

Because they’re upset and they don’t know how companies work, that or trolling, you can guess which one it usually is. It’s usually legitimate complaints that are reaching for an irrational explanation. I get why it happens, but I would be lying to you if I said it wasn’t a little frustrating sometimes.

Maybe it is because they don’t want to assign the blame directly to Blizzard… Activision makes for a good Boogie man.

Activision has nothing to do with Blizzard Entertainment to start with, so I’m not sure what your point is.

I don’t really know how many times this will have to be explained, but here we go again:

Activision-Blizzard is a holding company in charge of maintaining company stock.

Blizzard Entertainment, Activision Publishing and King Digital, while owned by Activision-Blizzard, are effectively independent companies under the Activision-Blizzard umbrella.

Multiple Blizzard staff have confirmed that they have no real involvement, including Tom Chilton, who served as the game director for World of Warcraft from Cataclysm to the start of Legion, even went so far as to confirm how involved Activision-Blizzard is when it comes to Blizzard Entertainment and the answer is ‘not at all’ with the teams presenting demos and slides at meetings which occur twice a year (sometimes not even that). Intelligent questions are asked about what they’re doing and why they’re doing certain things, but at no point are demands or suggestions given by Activision-Blizzard to anyone at Blizzard Entertainment.

I get it, people want to blame Activision-Blizzard because of what is known as the ‘EA Effect’ but it doesn’t apply here, at all.

So Activision isn’t the ones having blizzard cut cost to push games out faster, it’s all Blizzard?
