I'm just going to say it. Mythic+ is and at its core, fundamentally a mistake, and anti WoW

I mean we’re HoF and that’s almost what we do. Some are more invested and some aren’t but as long as you do 4 for vault you can raidlog. And as a guild we aim to make it as easy to get keys done with competent people you actually enjoy spending time with as possible.

That’s what M+ is like for lots of guilds.

I don’t mind M+ mechanics and the like for solo content specifically. It’s why I have a bunch of mage tower appearances and completed most of what was available in Horrific Visions.

Where it gets thoroughly unappealing is when there’s other people involved, because then the rest of the party is expecting nothing but top notch performance from me and if I fail to deliver that, great I’ve ruined their evening. I have enough to live up to in real life as it stands, I don’t need that in my games too. It bleeds any fun to be had out of the content entirely.

I looked into it and his guild is I believe 6/8M, so I’m not sure why he is only 2/8M if he is raiding with his guild 3-4 days a week. He’s also not in the recent logs, either.

So I’m not even sure what he is currently complaining about. Did he get benched because he refused to do M+? There is more to this story that he is not telling us.

First, not sure what logs you are looking at because I killed Queen twice. The first week we didn’t get her down. We cleared normal and all but her on heroic the first week. The next two weeks we did get her down and changed focused to Mythic raiding. During that period I was #1 lightsmith and #9 US prot pally. But once Mythic + released, people who grinded gear 7 days a week started to get big ilvl upgrades/craft their 636 pieces fast and it was no longer about raiding skill level it was about who could grind out more Mythic + high keys.

By the 4th week I knew I wasn’t enjoying myself and Hurricane Milton hit on a raid night. By the next week just lost the drive and didnt feel like playing catch up. There was another tank capable of raiding and I let them step in before I took to much gear and my leveling would hinder progression.

Nah that tracks and is entirely believable. I also wouldn’t even assume he was benched, just mutual.

I didnt say I was currently raiding 3-4 days a week. I said I want to raid 3-4 days a week because its what I enjoy about WoW. I am not currently playing WoW because of Mythic + being so integrated into raiding. I left TWW on the 4th week of raiding.

I’m going to be honest with you here, it just sounds like Mythic raiding is just not for you, because you’re unwilling to put in the time commitment, and that is completely fine, I’m in the same boat myself, most people are. But you sound like you would have been completely happy in a Heroic raiding guild who pushes Mythic at the end of the season this entire time. In fact, you could probably find a guild doing this right now. And I would guarantee that they would never require you to do M+.

I think one thing to remember here is that a head start is just that, a start. The “180 gilded crests for 2 crafts” bottleneck of S1 of TWW was something that is entirely unique to that season with both mythic coming a week late and crafts being 90 crests a piece. Adding to that tank ilvl is the last place a competent guild are going to levy complaints, especially when they know that tank is extremely good and going to pay off in the long run.

I would personally ignore flower on this one. The commitment, which is real don’t get me wrong, outside raid hours doesn’t have to be anywhere close to the horror stories you see, and even then every factor which lead to it being what it was this season is either gone or significantly altered next season.

You wanna raid, you’re good at it, but there’s something in the way, and you want it gone. That’s a completely logical thought process.

Yes, current “mythic” raiding is not for me because its not about raiding anymore, its about power gear grind trips, not about actual skill and performance AT A RAID. I have raided at a high level during my entire WoW career. Heroic Lich King server first, Undying title in Naxx, Cata clear, 3x Cutting edge, 1 Mythic kill away during Legion, etc. I am not holding any raid team back due to performance, deaths, skill level. I just dont want to spend 3+ off nights grinding gear to stay BiS the entire time to hit requirements to hit cutting edge before the next season because Blizzard factors in Mythic + and raiding in their numbers to get bosses down.

The day they make raiding and killing raid bosses about a team coming together and SKILL being the focus on winning and not gear grinding I will be a happy camper.

But taking the timer away is a start that might give me motivation to come back and give it a try again.

Maybe they make it so you can pick which option you prefer…time based or death based. People get to choose their poison.

You don’t need to do so, as has been explained numerous times. Coupled with that, if what will make you come back is making content easier to do, I think Mythic raiding isn’t your wheelhouse anyway.

If your are not failing keys and can get 4 others to come together. As I said, I admit I am not the best Mythic + tank so assuming that I am going in and 1 shotting things isn’t me. If I was only spending 1 night a week because grouping was solid and everything was going perfect then I wouldn’t be remotely unhappy.

Many people who play Mythic + have been doing the same dungeons over and over during various seasons for 7+ years. I don’t have that experience and coming back now as a tank in TWW…expectations are you know the routes, which mobs are the key ones to interrupt, etc etc. I don’t know them all and literally required to study up. While people are wanting to push +15’s when I dont feel confident in +10’s.

Just being honest lol. I am a retired Marine and Police Officer…and no joke would rather get into a fist fight with a criminal then go tank a +12 in WoW.

Honestly again, at the level you’re wanting to play at just going one pack at a time and playing it by ear / leaning on your ability to play the game generally will be enough, especially with 4 other people who may have a bit more experience.

When I was doing weeklies with our main tank earlier in the season we did some absolute nonsense for routing and it just didn’t matter.

And nobody doing vault keys goes above 10s, that’s never the expectation. You’re there to get the best value for the time, no reason to bite off more than that.

I hate Mythic + to the core. This style of game play should have never been introduced in an MMO. I get some people like it, but the reason I liked MMO’s was community, we see less and less and less of that with crap like this. If you like speed running stuff go play fortnight or some dumb fps

Sadly that wasn’t my experience, but I am sure people and mentality of the players your around drastically effect gameplay. When I get the itch again due to an update or whatever reason I probably just make my recruitment post bluntly honest and see who response.

I think you’ll get better results going to them instead of them coming to you but both work. I’d also be clear that your “Blunt” opinion of M+ is not that you outright detest it, it’s that you dislike pugging or getting too sweaty about it. There’s guilds who feel the same way about M+ as you do getting CE and more.

I also think a solution is to allow Delves to drop Mythic level crest on max tier. I would do these all day for 2 crest per run even knowing it would take longer, but at my own pace. Gear from Mythic + isn’t as important as maxing crest.

This is coming next patch. Not sure if it’s repeatable though.

M+ for myth track vaults is still likely to be a requirement at a CE level after a few weeks. But 4 dungeons isn’t much in the right environment.

We can stop bashing Mythics any day now, folks.
