Yeah I’ve been playing since vanilla. I just don’t have a dedicated group of people to play with, last two times a key fell apart because of me it was extremely disheartening. When playing with friends like S1-3 of DF, it was a fun experience. Now, with no one except PUGs to play with, I’m more inclined to not put the effort in when I can get 616 gear from delves.
…or you could just go play delves. The whole idea of having different end-game pillars is to offer choice. Making one pillar identical to another is effectively removing choice.
If it’s the timer you hate, then don’t play M+… go Raid or do Delves… they’re also end-game pillars so utilize them. It’d be nice if Delves were tuned to have a difficulty on par with M+ and/or Raid so they could offer myth-track gear and gilded crests… perhaps they’ll get around to that eventually, but that’s a far better suggestion than just fundamentally altering an end-game pillar you don’t even seem to like.
M+ is the most popular mode according to one of Blizzard’s own polls. Confirmation bias much?
Yeah a whopping 19% is the best it could muster, even being Blizzard’s favorite child and having honey and chocolate handed out for free, just for doing it.
Not a very ringing endorsement.
Tanking with PuGs aint so bad.
Though the unspoken rule is that pugging has it’s difficulty inverted based on the difficulty of the content. If you’re pugging the low tiers of M+ where nobody plays except those that can’t cut it in the higher tiers, then it’s going to be rough regardless of your role.
7s and 8s are easier than 3s and 4s this season just because of the average quality of player you get.
I think if 19% of the player base quit over removal of M+, that Blizzard would take any/all actions to prevent that outcome and avoid the cut to revenues for their singular “cash cow” product (WoW probably still makes more than OW, D-IV, HearthStone, etc. but they don’t break out revenues of individual games in 10Ks anymore).
I also think 19% wouldn’t quit, but the point stand it’s the most popular mode so they don’t want to kill that mode off.
It is. It only takes one group of solid people to show you that the biggest and hardest affix are the PuGs in the group lol
Except that as we’ve seen this season, people DON’T like M+. Never have.
But they sure love the free welfare gear.
That’s also why Classic raiding is popular. People can pretend they’re the best.
At lower levels, absolutely. Once you start playing with pugs who know what mechanics are, tanking gets pretty easy.
Yeah sure buddy, just keep telling yourself that. Everyone totally secretly hates M+ but is being forced at gunpoint to do it for gear!
people are extremely gear motivated. Dragonflight raiding doesn’t let them pretend they’re the best, but m+ and classic raids do.
TWW is on par with DF S3 for average amount of keys completed daily
You’re right, people are actually paying $15 a month to play this game in their free time to play a game mode that they actually hate doing just for the gear
As we saw in Shadowlands for example, people definitely will just continue playing this game to grind out gear upgrades even if they hate what the game is like currently
They like m+ because it’s easy. But not m+ itself.
It lets them pretend they’re the best.
Maybe, just maybe, they just enjoy doing keys. Have you considered that?
If people just enjoyed doing keys, we wouldn’t have had the constant complaints all season of:
- I can’t get Myth gear by doing keys lower than 10
- I can’t get Gilded crests by doing keys lower than 9 (later lowered because of the whining)
- What’s up with this +7 affix it’s unfair (i.e. the “I can’t die all the time like I did in Dragonflight and that’s not fair”)
- etc.
You’re here every season coming up with new reasons why everyone actually secretly hates doing M+ and they should remove it from the game.
Just give it up already and let people enjoy things.
