I'm glad RDF isnt in the game. Thank you for hearing my voice Blizzard

talking about where our tolerance for the situation we do or dont like begins and ends tho in a discussion and advocating for a game you want to play in a way that isnt toxic, gaslighting or hyperbole, im sure cant be a bad thing at worst and might become popular and adopted at best

Not really. Mentors (the ones supposed to, “teach” the community) are among the most arrogant and toxic players in that game. Being a sprout just makes you a target, in WoW’s community (especially Classic it seems) it’d get you harassed.

so by this i think people mean maybe game isnt made for you then if this is a existential crisis to you. which is perfectly reasonable to assert.

Usually this is actually posed as “yes there is an issue here even blizzard points it out.”

i give plenty of credit to others, and ive seen plenty of credit given to others.

I don’t quite understand what you’re saying. I’m not trying to criticize anyone. “Encouraging an open mind” might come across as toxic but I’m not calling Donkaa or anyone close minded.

I wish I were more open minded.

If 90% of Classic is for me and 10% would be fixed by having a single change (like RDF), I’m sooner going to advocate for the change than act like “the game isn’t for me” or “I should play a game I like less, but at least it has the feature I want in it”

Except this is a disingenuous thing to say, as a core feature of Wrath (and yes, RDF is a core feature, even if it was added during the final patch/halfway through the timeline) RDF not being in Wrath is a significant change and does impact the experience for everyone - whether positively or negatively it’s up to the individual, but overall it’s more likely to be negative for most.

Telling people to go to retail because Blizzard made a terrible decision is rude, though.

absolutely. but gaslighting people who dislike that change doesnt help your case. especially when blizzard made it clear what they are trying to preserve in passing on that change.

Unfortunately blizzard doesnt owe you a core feature of wrath. #somechanges.

Disagreeing with you and calling out bad arguments isn’t “gaslighting.” Especially when you’re more often than not someone who griefs with trashy bait and -ism slinging.

I think that’s kinda where we hit a wall, feels like you’re asking me to make the coherent argument against RDF you’re after when I’m not even on that side.

This is said slippery slope people mentioned during Classic beta when people were pushing for changes. Blizzard didn’t, “owe” us Classic either, and yet they made it. It was a good financial decision, and I am very confident saying implementing RDF in Wrath Classic would be as well.

Time will tell. When we get past the initial rush of players and people start unsubbing, people are going to want RDF.

I’m not asking you to do anything. I’m saying that, in general, most anti-RDF people make poor arguments for why it shouldn’t be included.

im glad they did!

im glad this coincided with a decision i wanted!

regardless of this im glad its the decision they arent making!

or the current player base will continue to play wotlk like we play tbc at the moment.

Most anti rdf people like me, have anecdotes about what we dont like about the system, which arent arguements, yes! but they should provide insight into blizzards stated reason for excising it from classic.

And so are we. However, now we’re dealing with Blizzard deciding what they think belongs in Classic, rather than what is authentic. And that’s a huge problem. For some here that is working for Wrath, but that doesn’t mean something major in future won’t rub them the wrong way.

Yes, as you personally feel that your own specific type of gameplay (which requires limiting the gameplay of other players) is better, and don’t care if that hurts other players.

RDF didn’t exist in TBC. Most people didn’t expect it. Most people will expect it in WotLK.

And like many, your anecdotes aren’t compelling to where I’m willing to sacrifice a feature that I know will benefit me because you think it somehow affects how you play the game. You’ll continue to group with your buddies and consume the game at your own pace RDF or not and that’s cool. I just know that I will run more dungeons and spend more time playing the game if there’s RDF.

It’s entirely appropriate to tell people that when they insist we just don’t use the feature and use their logic against them. The logic is the same. If you don’t like the feature don’t use it? If you don’t like classic play retail.

It was only ever used here as a response to that.

You’re about to be accused of gaslighting I can sense it.

Telling people you don’t have to use a feature that exists and telling people to quit the game entirely to play a very different version of the game isn’t the same logic.

We like Classic. That’s why we’re still here. We don’t, however, like that a feature of the coming expansion that fixes problems we have right now is not going to be added for some fluffy, “feel good” feeling that not everyone shares and which doesn’t reflect the reality of the game.

For it to be at least a little more acceptable, we’d have to actually be given hard data and demonstrable evidence why the game would be better without it. But that doesn’t exist - or at least, Blizzard doesn’t talk about nor provide it - instead they use feelings.
