I'm glad RDF isnt in the game. Thank you for hearing my voice Blizzard

Do you not see the similarity in Ion presenting the “choice” to you to access the feature you want, with you telling people that anti-RDF players have the “choice” not to use RDF?

its a Wrath feature. Much like flying mount combat it was advertised to be in at launch, but unlike that vaporware it actually got added in. On that note, I really hope they add that Gundrak raid and the Azjol-Nerub zone they didnt have time to finish the first time around.

It is however part of its design philosophy which fundamentally differs from retails approach of accessibility. They are different games and that’s important to distinguish from both a design and target audience perspective.

It’s a “less than half of wrath” feature.

No, because he’s effectively telling people who disagree with him to play an entirely different game. I’m saying that RDF is an optional feature that people can choose not to use while still enjoying the same game lol

Provide hope that at some point, through people voting with their wallet, blizzard will cave in and revert their decision. If RDF is indeed the option preferred by the majority and their gamble on capturing players who’d prefer “the spirit of classic” doesnt pay off, I hope they’re mature enough to admit their mistake and correct it.

You’re right that that is a difference, but don’t let the differences prevent you from analyzing the similarities as well.

Well i disagree for the longevity for the game as a seperate entity. I hope someday we see pristine server in retail actually

There are no real similarities. It’s overly reductive to act like “play a different game” is the same as “opt-out of using an optional feature”

RDF and (more importantly and distincly lfr) make it a different game. Queuing makes it a different game entirely.

(It doesn’t though)

Design philosophy is a big thing.

It really does. Just because thats a game youre okay with playing doesnt make it any less distinct in how people interact with the game and eachother around it.

FFXIV would be a different game with a wholely different playerbase if the sprout mechanic didnt exist.

Guild wars 2 is a completely different game once they introduced their iteration of physics based mounts. People in their forums dont say “lawl get off your bunny and do the jumping puzzle then 5head”

I’m not saying the difference is actually a similarity. You pointed out a legitimate difference, I’m not arguing that the situations are identical. That is in fact a complete reduction of my argument.

You didn’t see the similarity. That’s fine, it’s your judgement to make.

The similarity I see is that both cases are using the idea of choice to justify a decision.

The choice to use a feature != illusion of choice to play a different game

I’m on your side just trying to encourage an open mind. You don’t have to see the similarity but there’s no need to keep listing the differences.

There’s a difference between “an open mind” and pointlessly ceding ground to a poorly supported argument

You’re not ceding any ground. We’re not fighting any battle, there’s no winning or losing. The only losers are those who don’t learn or benefit from the process.

Idk man. If there were a more coherent argument against RDF than “go play retail” or “lol, me and Blizzard are on the same side against you,” it’d be a lot more worthwhile to give credit to others
