I'm done with WoW. Any recommendations for a good palette cleanser?

Bug fables os a masterpiece, and i got 30 ish hours out of it! Its a light in tone, easy to get turn based rpg. Loke in the style of the mario and luigi or the first 2 paper mario games. Very charming game, lot of love put into it

core keeper. chill little game u can play solo or with friends. theres also harder and hardcore difficulty levels in the game though if u want it that way.

Stardew Valley is super cute, super cozy, and super relaxed. No need to min/max, or worry about timelines unless YOU want to! Highly recommend, even if it isn’t on sale.

If WoW is too frustrating, perhaps something like Coffee Talk would be more up your alley, OP.

Or Bear and Breakfast.

For MMOs? Nothing to recommend, for SP games there is a ton, but I would wait for PoE2 in early december.

Buy your self a Snes and a tube tv, you’ll be busy for a while

Yeah. You can now settle down, have kids, work on real life goals, and be happy.

Last I knew , you had to have active game time in order to purchase a wowtoken with gold. Might be wrong no, but that’s at least how it used to work.

OK, so perhaps if you provided an example of a game that fits your criteria, I might understand it better. Not having a go at you, just not really getting it. :sunglasses:

I stopped reading here because you’re asking for my services but unwilling to provide compensation for them.

Leveling to 50 and finishing the story then completing all the 50 dungeons was fun and free in throne and liberty.

If you can get past the combat ESO is honestly amazing game. Sadly the combat just ruins it for me.

I honestly haven’t played any of the mainline ones since Yellow.
So… I guess that qualifies as Gen 1, still? It’s been quite a while.

I’ll admit I’m curious, having gotten interested in 40k lore a few years ago.
But yeah, there’s just one glaring issue I have there:

Ultra-smurfs.

… alright, that was mostly an excuse to poke fun at the blueberries.
Also, no free trial on Steam. Which is a very useful in-road at this stage.

Completed the… well, first Norse GoW about a year ago.
Ragnarok has been on the radar ever since, but I haven’t gotten around to it.

(looks at SNES sitting in closet)

… interesting idea, but I think most of the batteries in the cartridges (and therefore the ability to save the game) pretty much done. I also didn’t get into RPGs until a couple of generations later, so I don’t have those classics sitting around. Or at least not the SNES versions of them.

You can restart a subscription using gold saved up.

You can pretty much get to the character select screen and then the prompt will come up to use gold from your characters to buy/use a token at the current cost (it sorts it out automatically, apparently). Didn’t use it because I wanted some gold left over, and the cost of subscription wasn’t an issue for me.

Part of the idea was an intentional change of pace.

But for some examples of my favourites:

  • I’m a fan of the Xeno meta-series: Xenogears, Xenosaga, Xenoblade.
  • I’ve enjoyed many of Bioware’s offerings, at least from their “prime years”. The Mass Effect trilogy is a particular highlight.
  • Final Fantasy is a series where I enjoy some entries, but not others so much. It’s hard to pin down exact lines for what I’ve enjoyed, but many of the modern entries seem to be the problematic ones for me. Favourites are VI, IX, X and XIV.
  • Mario (specifically the platformers) & Zelda are “old standbys”, mostly for their gameplay rather than story. For something of an interesting angle, BotW really captured the “exploration” aspect for me; I pretty much got the climbing armour set and never looked back. TotK was good (despite tapping into the “build your own device” aspect), but didn’t capture my imagination as much.
  • More of an observation… I got several of the old LucasArts “point & click” adventure games on my Steam Library. Sam & Max Hit the Road, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango.

Maybe that could offer some sort of guidance, but I am looking for that “palette cleanser” to freshen things up a bit rather than anything too close to what I’ve done before.

Idk if you’ve tried Baldur’s Gate 3 but it’s a really enjoyable game and now with the final patch coming out they’re adding a dozen new subclasses and mod support has created an absolutely massive sandbox of a game that can be turned into quite the personalized adventure, sorta the exact opposite of what WoW/MMOs can be at times.

Oh. Well that leaves out Palia.

I only play MMOs at this point, so… I’m useless.

I mostly ignore the weaving aspect, I’m a button masher myself. I use a controller, back bar I lay down AOEs and dots, switch to main bar ability rotation without light attacks in between, then put a spam attack on B/Circle while hitting R2 at the same time to simulate light weaving.

It’s less of a strain and more enjoyable for me.

Man I went ham on that game when I first picked it up.

Not really sure why. It’s not my usual thing, and even now I can’t really get back into it or similar games for more than a day or so at a time before I stop.

But when I started that one I had like 3 different farms going (2 different groups of friends, 1 solo) and slammed like 300 hours into it insanely fast.

It was a fun time.

I think once I saw what I wanted to see it lost a lot of replay value to me though. I know some folks can play it whenever and have fun, but “finishing” it was basically like what happened when I got KSM in Dragonflight Season 1. Just an immediate total drain of desire to even touch it anymore.

I’ve played it with other friends a bit and with mods here and there since. Nothing crazy or super long term though.

Once human , throne and liberty, soon dauntless, all free steam games we are playing. Its nice to vibe and have fun again.

Hate to see you go (less players) but I understand, I started in Vanilla, on my WoW breaks I would play my insular console games, fighting games, 3rd person shooters, RTS, :man_shrugging:t5: cant give any specific suggestions  Maybe the new WoW RtS games? That way when you come off your break, mount waiting :+1:t5:

:man_facepalming:t5: Yeah I’m not the person to ask this question to … Good luck :v:t5:

POE2 beta is coming Friday.

Will probably have more content than most games actively updating.
