I'm done with WoW. Any recommendations for a good palette cleanser?

Just gonna rattle off some of my personal favorites. I’m sure many of them have already been listed, but whatever.

  • Rain World
  • Hollow Knight
  • Divinity: Original Sin 2
  • Terraria
  • Stardew Valley
  • Risk of Rain Returns
  • Risk of Rain 2 (just got a new DLC earlier this year)
  • Homeworld Remastered (Haven’t played 3 yet. Heard it’s super mid)
  • Homeworld: Emergence (Very old game. Originally called Cataclysm before Blizzard swooped in and copyrighted it some years later, womp womp)
  • Undertale (memed to death, but genuinely a great game)
  • Vampire Survivors
  • Neverwinter Nights (the rpg, not the mmo)

And of course classic big name titles like Baldur’s Gate, Witcher, Red Dead, Skyrim, things like that. If we weren’t discounting endless games I’d also throw in the likes of Deep Rock Galactic and Vermintide 2.

fortunately awesome games like octopath travelers 2 are successful without you and any wow forum shenanigans. cheers mate i hope that you find peace

Cool story bro, but if I can’t have your stuff I’m not reading all that

If you want something chill and relaxed, may I humbly suggest Stardew Valley. Its a game you can pick up for either a quick or long session and you can play co-op friends. Game is relatively stress free (unless you doing timed Skull Dungeon runs lol!) and has quite a bit of replayability.

I had a ton of fun with Rift. Has some free play to check it out before you buy.

I needed the same thing recently. I was burnt on Wizards, Swords, Dragons oh my… So i went to Space.

Empyrion -Reforged Eden 2
Starbound
Homeworld 3

Honorable Mention:
7 days to die
Core Keeper
Valheim

I’m playing enshrouded, it’s pretty great.

If you like valheim, you will love enshrouded.

Heretic, there is only WOW XD

Nine Sols (20-25 hours)
CrossCode (40+ hours)
Hollow Knight (~25-30 hours)
Crash Bandicoot 4
Night in the Woods (~7 hours?)
Ori and the Blind Forest (~3-5 hours, FP was 7 for me) + Will of the Wisps (15-20 hours)
Rain World (hard as fox)
TUNIC
Sonic Mania
Freedom Planet 2 (first one is… meh, but the sequel is GOD-tier)
Darkwood (~20 hours, one of the greatest survival horror games ever made)
Dishonored
Lies of P

Probably too long:
Elden Ring
Baldur’s Gate 3

Recently played I would not recommend:
Sea of Stars - The world’s most “meh” RPG.

Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are both excellent games. Those get my recommendation.

I tried Palia, but lost interest after about a week. It’s a grind game disguised as a cozy game.

Palworld is a fun game too. That held my interest for about a month.

One game I return to in cases like this: Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Very… adult game, relatively historically accurate, a break from fantasy, while still staying within the medieval setting I prefer in my games.

For more of a fantasy setting, the Dragon Age games are great. Well… the first and third are; the second is okay. I havent tried the fourth.

Any of the Warhammer 40k games. They range genres and have an end. Space Marine 2 is solid, as is the 4x Mechanicus series.

With the steam sales going on right now you can pickup just about all the resident evil remakes + re7 and 8 for under a hundred bucks

I just did this I’ve always played shooters and I have been playing pubg (player unknowns battleground) I enjoy it and it has pretty much got me off wow. I did log into wow a few times but it’s not the game I want it to be I unfortunately just bought a year so that’s the only reason I log in is to just try to justify that I bought that. Other than that good luck I hope you find what you are looking for

Actually watched a summary video of it fairly recently, within the last month or two, and it was definitely intriguing… though it seemed to point towards the spin-offs & sequels being noticeably better as the original gets stale quickly.

Still, that is definitely on my radar.

I’ll admit, this one (and its sequel) has always been on the fringe of my interests.
Maybe it’s time to take the plunge there.

And thanks once again to everyone for their suggestions. This is turning into quite the collection of ideas and things to try out, and I feel it’s best to have options here rather than trying to find that one “perfect game for you”.

I got burned out too. Ive been playing minecraft and using the Vault Hunters 3 mod pack. It turns the game into a dungeon crawler. If you decide to give it a try, make sure to go into the curse forge settings to allocate more ram to it.

Go outside and play.

Epic bought it and it’s on their launcher now. If you’re into Fortnite (I’m not) most of the cars and cosmetics now transfer over)

Lost Ark is pretty fun.

Give it a try.
