I'm done with this snoozefest

As someone who has unlocked every allied race, I agree. It’s silly to expect someone returning or new to play the game that much to unlock the thing they want to play as in the first place. The heritage armor and racial mount should be behind the rep grind, but the race itself should be unlocked by default.

so before even knowing who the void elves and such are because they haven’t played the story yet they should be able to play as the race? how does that make sense though.

@Rivalz I never said I hated WoW. Read through this thread because it’s clear you are not on the same page with me. And I dont want to “get with the times”. If i did i’d be playing mobile games for entertainment.

@ Varthis saying people want hand outs is not keeping the peace.

if you’re saying your quitting you don’t much like it ya? safe assumption with your words. either way i don’t care anymore, either quit and play something else or get up to speed with how the game works now. this allied race thing is old news

“if you’re saying your quitting you don’t much like it ya?”

did the 13 colonies suddenly hate tea overnight because they boycotted the british?

I dunno. It didn’t feel like such a chore to me but probably because i wasn’t aiming at them.
I just wanted to get exalted reps So i would aimless do all WQs and get nodes at the same time every 2 days of the week. Plus the emissary everyday. And i got it fairly fast honestly. Plus a lot of gold which was quite useful to level and buy mounts training for my alts which i was going to go after anyway.
Basically its stuff i always do but now i got extra rewards for it.

Truth.
But at the same time this expansion had more races than all other prevously expansions combined.

I don’t feel like im having a blast doing MC in classic though, im basically raid logging there to keep contact with friends.
Sociability in vanilla is well done there is no deny on that but the content itself is very boring atm.

But… you would.
Unless you don’t want to do caches too. Which are like any grind but descent rewards for a 15 mins.

Only do caches then.
But honestly 75 rep per quest+weekly cache in argus is an average of 1.4k/day. Arguably its way more rep than several past expansions like TBC.
Plus you get a lot of gold and other resources.

I think the statement culd be easily applies to flying but not soo much for side races which aren’t very different than core races. Only exception are KT and Zandalar

They use MAU in their financial reports not playtime metrics.
If you pay and play very little the more lucrative it is for them.

Yet you won’t hit exalted with any faction in classic because there isn’t dailies.
Replayability in classic to get high reps with argent dawn, forstsaber or other races mounts is much more time consuming. Right now from revered to exalted is over 3.100 golds in runecloths which you cant farm descently whitout making a lot of DM tribute runs pretty fast as several stealtheis(you being one) or as a hunter. It still take a lot of time investiment. Argent dawn is literally redoing dungeons for more than 250 times atm and in normal pugs every one of them takes at least 35-50 mins. Hydraxian warlords is fast if there is another 10 or 20 players in your guild willing to farm it everyday. Which is still boring regardless.
The classic grind is pretty time consuming but the real good thing about classic is that you aren’t required to grind these as you are required to grind AP in retail. And even requried grinds like hydraxian aren’t necessary if enough people in your team have done it.

Ironically the better example of design to exploit this kind of personality is the ranking system of classic. Because its linked to how many points other people also gain.
With time gating on the path and guaranteed weekly rewards this personality cant be exploited.

Which can be said for raiding in classic and getting no drops for months due 40 people together or the ranking system.
Retail may be RNG for secondary stats but several weekly drops plus bonus rolls guarantee rewards and upgrades for several weeks until you cahr is pretty strong.
But its definately a downstep from badges system of TBC in my view.

They do. Lots of good gear at launch were the ones in the rep vendor.

Thats an issue which has been in the game since forever though.
Garrisons and Legion halls acted like you were their leader in several occasions with characters commenting about you as you passed or even bowing but nobody liked it either. Because they want to be the nobody adventurer. And in that sense this system works better.

Ya this is the major issue. I don’t think thigns like allied races, warfronts and island expeditions should actually be marketed as the expansions biggest features. They could’ve focused more on better azerite/essences systems at launch. Marketing something trivial and in the end also bad designed as a feature was a terribad idea imo.

TBH the F2P games sells you races and they for some reason gender lock classes too.

I dunno abotu it there is tutorials in the game, several NPCS in major cities related to events and also a calendar which what is to be expected and a big journal telling what you can do and big quest markers showing where to go.
Third party webs just chew it.

But improving it like they did is always welcome.

By that definition any game is pay to win because in any game you can pay people to carry you hard.
So basically all games you play are pay to win in one way or another.
Love or hate you can’t get anything meaningfull with gold alone, which is what P2W is. You need people whom know what they are doing.

I would find wierd to a game company send me a cookie cutter build and calling me a noob if i didnt go for it.
There are several ways to play your character, gotta figure them. The optimal way for X/Y/Z content can also be figured.
Which i would 100% agree whit you is requiring third party programs to tell me which gear is better for such playstyles due severla passives. Thats abysmal gearing and reward structure.

Ya but i also struggle to remember when we got 6 to 8 races at the same xpack and extra rewards for what we always do, like prestige races.

Ya but their rewards were useless and a mount.
And the important ones like sons of hodir was a really time consuming grind too which no tabards helped.

How does a new player grinds from 1-120 in 4 days (without AV I’m assuming)?
It took me almost a month to do it…
Even when I was helping a friend that was new to the game, it took her over 2 weeks to reach 120.

Botanica and such could be done at lvl 68. So yeah, unless you got in a group with a lock gl.

Yes, they are making a mistake even letting new players know anything about the new allied races until they have leveled up to 120. I was surprised on this account which was basically treated as a new account almost the first thing they did was send me to see the allied race selection.

I don’t understand people saying having access to races is “pay to win” are these classes some how that OP? Do their racial abilities give you massive boosts that are so game changing it’s unbalanced?

As it is you can buy heirlooms (with real money you spent on a token) and I’d suggest that’s WAY more OP than a race unlocked, isn’t it?

This is a big part of why WoW is the way it is. I ground out all allied races and would love to see everyone have them unlocked for free. Others getting them after you in no way diminishes your achievement.

Damn bucket crabs, I swear.

This actually isn’t true. A lot of people like to be able to earn things in this game, it makes it more rewarding.

If you don’t have the patience to do so, this game isn’t likely to be ever to your liking. Try overwatch or D3 something like that.

I don’t remember it because it didn’t happen to me or any of my guildies. Everyone knew how much flying would cost the minute TBC was launched. I wasn’t even selling potions at the time - I just looted everything and didn’t buy crap.

When I was a little less than a bar away from hitting 70 I started killing mobs outside of Wildhammer. The SECOND I dinged 70 I went and bought my flying mount. It was an ebon gryphon.

The only people who couldn’t afford flying the minute they hit 70 were goobers.

Now EPIC flying was a different story. Maybe that’s what everyone’s thinking of.

Somehow the horde continue to outnumber alliance thus resulting in longer queues for one and shorter queues for the other lol

If you used the time you spent in this thread in the game, you would already have Mag’har unlocked…

Quoted for truth.

Epic flying I had to grind for, but normal flight? Who is that bad with in-game money?

I don’t even know how to respond to someone who thinks grinding for races is content. When did getting your race become CONTENT?

I actually didn’t use the word content in there once.

that poster said no one wants to do all the crap involved and I said that isn’t the case, some people like earning things in this game.

Haha no. Classic plays like an MMORPG, retail WoW plays like an online casino.

No. Comparison. At. All.
