I agree with this after doing about four of them myself. People who come here wanting to play the new shiny should not be expected to play old hat just to get to the new shiny. They’ll burn themselves out doing it and stop playing the game that punishes them to get what should be something available at the character creation screen day 1. But here we are being farmed by Blizzard for their metrics.

Lets take a look at a few things here.
BFA gives 75 rep per Daily
Classic Gives 150-350 for a Quest
Supposedly players wont enjoy a game more because of “pixels”.
Go search for Pokemon Youtubers and Shiny Pokemon…get back to me on that

Blizz once said players didn’t really want Classic WoW. What were the results?
I like and want what I like and want. Some people want to play a fox, some a belf, I want to play an Orc true to their origins. Only for me it’s somehow a problem. Other races are unlocked from the get-go. Allied races are not. So it means that if you like an unlocked race you won luck of the draw. But if you wanted something else, tough cookies.
And at the end of it all grinding through boredom for 8 days isnt a big deal and that’s that. NO! I paid money for something and I have yet to see it.

It wasn’t always this way.
I started in BC and the new races were not gated in this way. They simply came with the expansion.

But with this it’s “no your money isn’t enough! we want your downtime! We want your time off from work! We want you to work on top of paying. And we expect you to comply!”

That is how things should be but since Blizzard isn’t packing in the players anymore they have to artificially extend peoples play times. They’ll drive away more players doing that and will end up extending themselves out of a job eventually even with something as big as WoW has been.

Races should have remained that way. However if special races AKA allied races perhaps get them at honored instead of exalted?
Which translate to a treadmill. You can run all day and go nowhere.

that’s far more reasonable. but still it’s the principle of it. Why not lock special armors and weapons and mounts behind exalted instead?

WotLK had DKs and DKs were not gated in this way. MoP had Pandas and they were not gated in such a way.
Legion had DH and they were not gated in such a way if I recall.
Something seriously went wrong toward the end of Legion where Blizz went off the rails.
Unfortunate you are seeing WoW for the first time during the Dark Ages and not during the Golden Age.

Perhaps that could work.
OP if you want to get an idea of how great WoW once was, try Classic. Or better yet, wait for TBC servers. That will give you an idea of what the giants who created WoW could deliver.

That’s what I though would happen! Then I logged in for the first time and nothing! So I asked in chat how to get them. “Buy BFA” they said. So I cracked open my wallet and did so! Then I STILL didn’t have them! Then I ask why. They said “Need Rep”. So I say to myself ***damn it! Fine shouldnt take too long I guess! Then I find out Rep is given out at like 1/3 of regular rate, you got no tabards, AND if you were a dps you got the pleasure of waiting upwards of an hour for a dungeon pop, and no one wanted you to join them for expeditions. FANTASTIC!

That is one big issue for me too. The idea that we have to play the game, grind, before we can play with what we want is ridiculous. Worse, we have to do that grind EVEN if we’re going to pay for a Race/Faction Change.
And don’t even get me started on this whole “constipation design”. All they have done is turn mindless grind into dragged mindless grind. Everything feels repulsive to kill in the game. The part of this game that was supposed to be about feeling comfortable, easy, casual, now it’s unbearably dragged. You can’t kill anything with less than 20 skills if you’re undergeared, and even after the ilvl goes up, the scaling makes sure to push you back. It’s why I don’t step into LFR anymore, it’s disgusting.
It’s why I’m leaving the game. I’m done with this crappy, dishonest design that drags us around as much as possible to snatch more money out of our wallets. There’s nothing fun anymore about this game.
