How is it a waste of time?
That’s like saying going to school for 12 years is a waste before you go to college, then higher forms of college, then your job…
You’re experiencing the game at multiple levels of it’s evolution. was playing halo 1 a waste because halo 2 came out? huh?
I play poe and hc wow. it’s not a waste when my character dies or they make a new season for poe.
anything you do while you’re alive is not a waste as long as you enjoy it.
the difference is u can still play halo1 and 2. we cant play tbc and wrath anymore unless were on a private server. having a perma sunwell server will allow ppl to get full bis and hunt warglaives forever

Because wrath is just retail-lite. Wrath-classic proved it was a mediocre expansions looked back on with nothing but nostalgia.
TBC was the true gold standard of WoW, vanilla behind at 2nd place.

Wrath isn’t anything like retail.

Why would people want fresh permanent ERA when fresh permanent ERA already exists…
The economy will just be in an identical place after 6-12 months. After a year it’s just functionally identical to what ERA is now.
Can I see where this proof is documented? It has to be somewhere given how many people swear by it.
Also it’s nice to see “Cata is literally retail” is starting to see a rival meme in “Wrath is retail-lite.” Both are equally stupid, of course.
Both are equally true. Wrath is the beginning of the end and cataclysm poetically is the cataclysm of the game.
Being the starting point does not equal the point we’ve come to a decade and a half later. Retail is plagued with a dozen problems not present in OG Wrath.
You’re playing WoW. You’re already wasting years for nothing.
OMG people don’t make me tell my death story again.
Bottom line, for the folks who don’t want to start on these servers until they know how far they’re progressing, playing through the first year+ of vanilla content is largely a waste of time. Personally, I wouldn’t do it at all if I couldn’t have some fun on the journey, but I find other things more fun than doing vanilla content again for no reason.
But WoW has always had time-wasting chores you have to do before you can do the content you want, so we accept that—as long as we will get to the content we want. Whooshing through Burning Crusade and/or Wrath to go stand in Deathwing’s fire is not the content we want.
We simply do not want to spend time on characters if we’re going to end up abandoning them.
If that doesn’t make sense to you, or you don’t see the point of BC/Wrath era servers, cool! There are already vanilla era servers and classic progression servers for you. Have fun. Do your thing. There’s no reason to be hostile about other people wanting to do theirs.

They are just progressing through TBC and not Wrath.
