People that actually play MM or want to play MM but have thrown in the towel because of how blah it is lately, are excited.
And that’s who the spec should be designed for. Not someone who levels a Hunter then goes back to their main, then logs their Hunter once in a blue moon to tame a new color variation of a Cat.
Can’t wait for the PTR to hit so we can actually discuss the changes, instead of trying to justify why changes are needed.
Heh. I really don’t know why people keep referring to this bird as a pet. As far as I can tell, it’s more going to be a game effect. You “spot” something, this critter flies out of of nowhere and pecks it. You root something, this thing craps guano on the ground or something. A Shammy doesn’t name his totems Fluffy or Clawbiter …
This depends on which Hunters you ask. The ones who actually play their Hunters in Raids and Mythics certainly are. The ones who want to sit and watch the sunset with their pet certainly wont.
The ones in between the two? I dunno. Casuals doing World Content will certainly care when it happens. But then they’ll adapt. Or find a different class. People who frequent and make multiple posts on forums are by definition NOT a casual player.
And the new WoW person who is going to make a MM Hunter in mid 2025? They wont even know it ever had access to a pet. Just like a new player today wont ever know there was such a thing as RDPS Survival Hunter.
Same, I’ve been waiting since Ion first ruined Surv in legion for black arrow to comeback in a serious manner, we have shamans and mages for herolust now, we don’t need another malfunctioning RNG ridden mechanic in the already over-loaded old engine.
This, lone wolf was added because of how OLD the warcraft 3 AI for our pets, because you can see the same pathing when they move, to just give us a instance talent to fix the game cause Ion can’t be asked to fix anything other then the token mines.
The thing is these are not always mutually excusive, which is why even ones like me are for the changes, in regards to how they are effecting group content. We just don’t see why we have to lose our pets, even if in exchange it is just reduced to a companion and fetcher that, with a CD, we can turn into a temporary tank along the lines of a shaman’s earth elemental.
We have gone thru this in multiple threads. We are going to lose out pets because Blizzard have decided it’s too hard to code and balance. That’s it.
They aren’t doing it because they want to screw anybody over.
You can call them lazy. You can say that it’s not hard to code or balance. That is all not relevant. They have decided it just is too hard. So they aren’t doing it.
Sad, but true, I just think they they might be missing one part of the sniper formula: the guardian/partner of the sniper that keeps people from sneaking up on them.
Snipers seem to work best in teams of 2-3, the sniper, a spotter (who can also serve as the guardian) and then the actual guardian. The changes are providing the sniper and spotter, with the potential for the spotter to also serve as the guardian, I’d just rather have one of my stabled pets be the guardian, even if it means I can’t send them to attack the mobs I am attacking.
Edit: I am still in the camp that wants the pet, but after seeing some of the things on the video from Dalaran gaming, like the default spec of the eagle (ferocity) providing lust AND the passive leech, I am moving more and more to the camp that would take the pet with as little combat utility as possible, and be mostly a visual/non-combat utility (so a step above the pokemon style pets, but still not a BM pet).
I mean is it too much to ask that we can still have a pet by our side that does nothing but fetches loot and maybe serves as an enhanced tracking mechanic?
So you’re an employee, and it’s all part of your plan that involved gutting MM until few played it and then claiming this was a “fix” that the game needed?
