This artificial time inflation of daily activities is so frustrating, i can’t even imagine playing an alt, this is an rpg, Ive gone up 30 ilvl since hitting 60 i don’t even feel stronger. At least in legion they had the decency to not implement this day 1 of the expac, and there was huge push back in broken shore.
I feel ya. I get what they were going for and I’m not necessarily completely against it because at a certain point there is a power gain, but man… they really do drag it out.
It probably wouldn’t hurt as bad if they were better at math and didn’t cause players to actually go down in power while initially leveling / gaining ilvls, and instead did the math properly to allow for a consistent growth curve.
I agree, I just hit 60 yesterday and getting new blues I am finding Mobs harder to kill! Supposed to be opposite of that!
Completely agree, i have no idea what they are thinking other than wasting peoples time. Its the opposite of how you are supposed to feel.
As a WW monk, I feel world content getting slightly harder the more my iLvl creeps up. This creates a disincentive to gear up, which is counterintuitive. To compare, I face-roll absolutely everything on my Prot warrior. The story and art assets are top notch. I guess you could also look it as taking the pressure of the gear treadmill problem . . . but I don’t think that was a design objective of the iLvl scaling system.
Perhaps its the infamous aff ramp up but I absolutely had a different experience. The maw was outright dangerous for me the first couple days I hit 60. It was a bit refreshing even.
I’m 164 now and feel like there is loads difference.
but again that could just be my class and spec.
As someone who only subbed back a couple months ago after a long hiatus, can someone explain what’s going on?
Exactly what’s scaling with ilvl?
overworld mob strength
As your ilvl goes up, so does the difficulty level of the mobs you’re fighting, so you don’t feel like you’re getting more powerful. It has been noted by many people that you actually get weaker in comparison as your ilvl improves, which is not a good feeling.
I got to admit, from 130ilvl thru to 150ilvl it actually feels like the same crap got a little harder to fight instead of easier.
I was one of those that pushed back. I think a lot of the mobs have too much HP at 60. They should be brought back down to Torghast levels of HP (5k-7k) and not the 15-25k, sometimes 35k that I see. The high HP is why I am ending up half health after every 1 on 1 fight in the open world. Annoying as hell.
edit: this was added in broken shores when we had ridiculous damage and HP. The idea was to not have mobs blow up immediately as other people were trying to do quests. We don’t need this anymore, or at least at this moment in the expansion
Really? I feel incredibly stronger, everything just melts nearly instantaneously now.
As always, people forget that with ilvl scaling in the world, our characters power outgrows the world mobs scaling substantially, this is to allow us a progressive power gap, but to limit how fast that gap grows without hindering our actual stat gains and output in harder content.
As far as I know, ilvl scaling was present in both Legion and BfA, but it has a threshold past which it doesn’t scale and most players hit that threshold relatively quickly, especially in BfA’s case where ilvl-inflated gear rained from the sky for the first few weeks.
Scaling is busted, I feel super weak
I agree same feeling, it def feels bad.
if you think you feel weak against current content, try going back to the N’zoth assaults.
Well that’s one way to get your face wrecked and feel very weak.
lol thats funny never thought of that. Ilvl scaling is terrible remove from game please.
It’s happens to a point and then you get much stronger than the mobs which stop scaling … let the raid open next week , everyone will be running ard in 200 plus gear and mobs will melt. This is like a problem for about 2 weeks at max level before the the raid tier opens.
Is this the case in regular 60 dungeons?
I don’t think so, my 60 bear tank is taking almost no damage, and he’s ilvl 168 ish.
He definitely took a lot more damage as a fresh 60
