Which is literally what the same concept is by doing the cloak quest chain or leveling in legacy expansion zones

All those quests you gave as an example from high mountain is still a Do X and get Y
It’s still the same concept just as any other quest including the cloak quest chain
Another thing I personally have against BfA is that it was sold to me as a ‘Faction War™ expansion’. It was in the marketing about how ‘AV-like’ the warfronts would be. I was sold an ‘exciting’ feature called island expeditions, where we could explore the islands and gather Azerite.
And we got a watered down version of all of those things. And then it all got pushed aside for Nyalotha. I don’t care about old god garbage, honestly. I wanted AV back, but even Classic doesn’t have the real AV so I guess that just can’t happen.
I’m ready to head into Shadowlands, and I hope it’s fun. That’s what I really want. So far BfA has been bait and switch, and regrinding traits. Now it’s apparently grinding a cloak, and that just sounds boring.
8.3 not fun, and honestly sl isnt looking promising, im waiting till next expansion after sl maybe 10.0 prepatch i might check things out, unless still no class changes i want then 11.0.
8.3 is tedious and boring af. I’m just leveling alts and farming mounts/transmog at this point. SL looks pretty lit tho

There’s plenty of stuff to do, though it just feels like a chore and the gameplay isn’t fun.
The opposite of WoD, really, which was an expansion where there was a glaring lack of concrete expansion-specific content even though the gameplay itself wasn’t bad at all, and the content that did exist was fun while it lasted.

This is incorrect. Unsubscribing is a blunt instrument that creates discrete variables.
What you participate in and for how long is more influential. If anything, the “true way” to do this is to actively spend a lot of time doing not-content you hate.
