Going into Dragonflight we remained mostly unchanged with the talent system addition. There were a few improvements but not nearly the same level of detail that other classes received. We didn’t get any real attention until late into the expansion (10.2).
I feel like we’re in the same boat again. No real noticeable changes, our hero talents have fairly mixed feedback. VDH still has threat issues early in encounters compared to all other tanks and is nearly back to where it was pre-10.2. Havoc has mediocre damage, especially for a class that has no other damage spec options like Rogue or Warrior for example. Havoc still has dead talents like Fel Barrage.
It just feels like we are largely being ignored. We’ve had very little feedback and have by far some of the fewest changes going into 11.0. It would be great to know whether or not we should expect to see more changes or if the class is considered “done” as is.
I feel like I am wasting my time beta testing a class that is underperforming across the board.
I mean you can argue that VDH is in a worse place than it was prior to 10.2 now.
Illuminated Sigils needed adjustment but they also nerfed the base cooldown and duration of silence just before the Illuminated Sigil change so its a net negative from where we were.
They just did a very minor damage pass on VDH but we’ll still be behind other tanks in damage and it won’t be enough to fix the threat issues.
Havoc hasn’t seen any changes really. The hero talents are mid at best. Its just all fairly underwhelming. It seems like we have no identity or direction, just small adjustments here and there without much thought. Rotation is a mess and whatever synergy we did have gets really skewed with the new hero talents.
10.2 wasnt a rework, they fixed pathing issues and added a 2 talent inertia package. Crazy concept but even if something is strong that doesnt make it fun, interesting, or exciting to play. The current state of the class on beta is extremely dire, no feedback has been listened to, there are no vfx on either tree, they are horribly imbalanced, and the rotation for aldrachi reaver promotes an extremely unfun rotation with a lot of points of friction.
not sure what you’re talking about. One of the biggest issues is that the class is TOO faceroll on beta. its not viable to play any other build besides cycle/sd. Inertia is too weak, throw glaive builds are too weak, fel barrage is too weak. The main complaint for havoc is that aldrachi reaver is built around shattered souls which is not a properly fleshed out mechanic for havoc, and its mostly a leftover flavor thing from vengeance.
Adding 1 talent and making 2 more paths in the talent tree (all while making an entire side of the talent tree dependent on the amirdrassil tier set) isn’t a rework but feel free to stick to the Druid forums
rogues got a much larger rework in 10.2 but they have still continued to get large changes and reworks throughout the alpha beta cycle. this is not a reason to give DH no changes
You’re correct about this, but it’s also not a reason to say that a class/spec is being ignored, as though someone in the dev department is instructing people “hey, don’t really bother with DHs”
Maybe there are changes upcoming. Maybe they consider the talent trees fine and balancing will come later. The notion that they are ignoring an entire class is ludicrous.
Okay then I guess its more fair to say DH feel ignored. We’ve always had the least amount of feedback, changes and adjustments since inception. Even WoW Armory still lists VDH resource as Pain instead of Fury which was changed over 4 year ago!
Doesn’t count as changes if it actively makes your class worse. Hunter received more changes than dh in Dragonflight yet they get a full rework in tww?
I’ve played every class at max level in every expansion since Wrath, so while I may not remember every change that happened when or which builds dominated each specific tier, I have a pretty good sense of how every spec works.
And as I play every class, I visit every class forum, and basically without exception, every class has threads pop up from time to time with some variation of “blizz hates/ignores/should just delete us.” These threads run from conflating opinions with facts at the low end to conspiracy theories at the high end.
Every class also has the “we need (x), or we need (y) back, or we were better when (z),” threads; also the “(x) change is the wrong one, or (y) change is going to ruin us, or the (z) change isn’t nearly enough” threads that pop up too. These, as per my last post, are- and to amend my previous post- 98% based on personal opinion or balance concerns. If you want to tell me why the 10.2 changes made Demon Hunters worse in any sort of reasonably objective sense, not just based on your opinion, then be my guest. I’m all ears.
it needed to be removed and now its gone and im glad. if you have threat issues as vdh then your just not adjusting or doing something super wrong.
keep in mind i still think sigil threat is bugged so you have to get into combat before you use sigils. so taunting or tging a second before sigil pops nets you alot of threat
I also play every class, and feel that allows me to be less biased with this subject matter. I am a Priest main, and we too feel that we are getting very little attention going into TWW. Ignoring Hero trees, because that’s something new for every class, our list of changes for the beta thus far are:
New Talent: Cauterizing Shadows – When your Shadow Word: Pain or Purge the Wicked expires or is refreshed with less than 5 seconds remaining, a nearby ally within 40 yards is healed.
New Talent: Phantom Reach – Increases the range of most spells by 15%.
Manipulation has been redesigned – Now causes you to take 1%/2% less damage from targets affected by Shadow Word: Pain, Purge the Wicked, or Holy Fire.
Mindgames has been removed from the Priest talent tree and is now a PvP talent.
Shattered Perceptions has been removed.
Shadow Crash now is a choice node with a new talent: Void Crash – Hurl a bolt of slow-moving Void energy at your target, dealing Shadow damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
Add in a few tuning changes here and there, and that’s it. End of list.
And Demon Hunters still have fewer changes than Priests, to the point that if you exclude tuning (Illuminated Sigils) and hero trees, there is nothing to list. Not a single thing. So yes, regardless if they got a rework in the middle of the expansion, the lack of changes now, in the beta of a new expansion when major changes should be happening especially considering the new hero system that is being introduced, is concerning.
Yes, there will always be cases where people on the forums are crying wolf for whatever class, but this isn’t it. Shamans absolutely had a case as well, but they received their “rework.”
