Yes I am. And wow, such naughty thoughts in there too.
Yeah… it’s the whispers… I think…
Yes but that’s why we send in tickets too.
Everytime I report a stalker, I also send in the ticket to affirm an action has been taken.
Because on the forums, they have not implemented “tell you if your report has resulted in an action taken”.
Which they should.
Or being able to escape the harassment by changing characters. Changing characters on the forums goes both ways.
Individually ignoring characters is not that big of an inconvenience when the person behind them is consistently toxic and deserving of ignoring. Being unable to escape harassment by any means is a much bigger deal.
Less people to ignore if you dismantle alt jumping and add account ignores on the forums.
As someone with nearly 30 years of moderation experience, this one is tough. Most people who want to know that someone they reported got banned is out for vengeance, not justice. Those out for justice just want the issue to stop. Those out for vengeance want to know that they got the other guy banned.
Ignoring them means no reason to have to change characters. Don’t let obsessed stalkers dictate who you post on. If you ignore them, you do not see what they say.
That is not easy. They look up your achievement points and pets and then publicly disclose your alts.
And if you’re using a Classic character, they even analyze the way you speak to discover who you are.
Gnomest precisely has had this problem not long ago. There was this user who disclosed who his alts were and was never actioned.
Funny part about this. I post on a Classic toon because then people have to focus on what I say rather than make up things in my armory to ad hominem their way through the discussion with. If I had a nickel for every time someone claimed they figured out who I was and posted an incorrect person, I could buy you and I lunch… super sized.
Doesn’t matter, they already implemented for in-game reporting, and should be extended to in-forums.
If someone in-game is telling you that they banned someone, shame on them.
I’m not dismissing your feelings on the matter, I’m only saying that it’s a touchy thing. I prefer justice, many prefer vengeance. People like the idea that they either caused someone an emotional or psychological negative reaction or know that they made it so someone else cannot log in. It’s that feeling of power that motivates bad people.
? If you report someone in-game you now get confirmation if an action was taken.
It’s literally in the PTR Notes.
This is all in the other thread which you presumably read before participating in lol
But is it actual action or the “action may be taken”. Blizzard use deliberate deceptive vague/generic terms to make naive people “think” something was done.
If they just say “action was taken”, that could mean a million things. If they flat-out say “the person was banned” that’s another.
It is confirming “an action was taken”, and actions are defined in the TOS in specific ways.
e.g. “a warning” is not defined as an action in the TOS, a temporary/permanent mute/silence/etc is
I’m sorry but I know how Blizzard works/has worked. Until I see something better than “an action was taken”, I do not believe anything they say in that regard. Not you… them.
I know someone who worked as a GM for a long time at Blizzard and he said when you’re told “action was taken”, they may not have done anything at all. Even a blue once said “this is because sometimes the best action is no action”. I do not like that, never have. It’s dishonest, misleading and insulting to people’s intelligence.
They can use vague/generic wording to make many people “think” they actually did something when they really didn’t. That’s why they do not like dealing with me in regards to tickets. I’m not afraid to reopen and say “you did not answer my question”.
Yeah… same.
They think I’m one of those other people who think my account would get actioned or even banned for reopening a ticket until I get a straightforward answer. No, I’m not a fool. Customer Support will not action my account for basically not clarifying my doubt or answering my question in a direct manner.
It’s a good thing that I haven’t had the need to contact them in the past months, though. Ignoring users has worked pretty well. But again, it could be improved.
I’ve never met anyone who actually had their account “actioned” for reopening tickets. I’ve called their bluff more than once. I can see if the person was just making tickets to harass the company or call them names but if you did not resolve my issue yet keep replying with robot answers and marking “resolved”, I’m going to keep inquiring. If you cannot help me, just say so and stop wasting my time.
on youtube ignore will also stop the person from seeing anything you post
its grate becous in terms to stopping harassment and obsessive stalkers what better way than to make yourself invisible i don’t know why its not been done like that already
To be fair, the CMs and Blizz has us all on ignore.
Agreed. I’m still seeing your threads when you post them.
You see how these changes are necessary??
Glad we agree
