Well there isn’t a way for someone to harass you here in the forums like someone can in game. No one can directly message you.
Is someone being rude/insulting or do you just disagree with them?
i think it is a mixture of everything you just said but i think for the most part people don’t like people disagreeing with them so therefore they are trolls and should be put on the ignore.
if they are rude/hostile or insulting then report and move on I say

Sorry after reading through this it’s beginning to sound like the op’s definition of trolling is disagreeing with him.
Some ppl cannot just allow others to voice an opinion they don’t agree with it. They will keep arguing with them and don’t have the ability to just move past it.
In a public forum you have to respect everyone ability to voice their opinions within the rule set. Even if you think they are very wrong. Say your piece and move on.

All of the above and Id prefer to just never seem them again when it starts. Ignore would be a huge blessing here.
Well I obviously don’t know the situation but my advise is to give them a chance. People get really up in arms about certain topics.
I’ve been in a few conversations and thought the person was a total jerk, but in another thread they are fine tensions just get high.
Keep reporting if it’s consistent
Easier to just ignore if that feature was available.
I wish there was a way to filter/ignore by subject. i.e. If the title of the post contains a certain keyword, don’t display it. Of course that would fail with often with how often we misspell or abbreviate words.
You can mute by subject word already

No one is going to be discouraged from making a post because of one–or a number of–people who are posting views opposite of theirs. In fact, I’ve seen the exact opposite–people posting more because they don’t agree with one or more posters.
You think people are being discouraged by shills. You have absolutely no proof of this, and actually you couldn’t have any because you can’t prove a negative.
Wanting an ignore feature is fine. Wanting it for the reasons you state is absurd. Even if you could ignore posters on this forum, it would not stop other people from seeing their posts (as I said previously). If people are going to be discouraged by the “waffle shill”, they’ll be discouraged whether or not you ignore that person.
While I see nothing wrong with an ignore feature–and feel these new forums should have had such a feature enabled from the start–you have absolutely no right to control what gets posted on a public forum of which you are not the host.

Calling people shills is probably my number 1 red flag of “anyone who disagrees with me, should be ignored”.
People that resort to name calling like this, typically only want echo chambers and to only bash something without anyone ever disagreeing.

Oh OP.
You don’t know how many times I ask that myself when the New Change within the Forums happened when the Ignore Option was gone. Because of that I had to deal with nonstop harassment, mockings, shamings, and etc on here.
I’m just begging for Mods to bring it back so I won’t have to put up with dealing Trolls and Jerkwads on here. Less Trolls, Less seeing their mess up posts about sick fantasies of the Alliance making it lame by killing off the Fantasy Elements to the faction and less Drama. The Better my Life would be much simpler.

You are allowed your opinion. But it’s just an opinion. It doesn’t change the fact that threads are derailed by rather vociferous flaming regularly.
I never stated it was anything other than my opinion.
I’ve just noticed in many of the “bash WoW” threads, if anyone doesn’t agree strongly enough, they are almost always called a shill. Regardless if they are actually defending Blizzard or not.
So when I see people throwing out the word immediately, its a red flag to me.
If the posts are truly flaming/trolling, flag/report them and move on. If they were actually trolling, they will be dealt with.

They chose not to have that feature when they were selecting forum software. Since it’s a very popular feature on most forums, I can only guess that the reason they decided not to go with it had to do with other features they wanted more. For instance, a single player can drop many likes and reports on forum threads and posts to control the appearance of the forum.
same could be said for posts that you don’t care for

It’s not there for the same reason the down vote is gone. Having to stand behind what you say with consequences mirror image is having to accept the fact you don’t exist in a vacum on the forums. If you spew your opinion, so will everyone else.
The mods are the ones who decide if somthing is harmful or inappropriate not folks who don’t want to hear a dissenting opinion.
