Ignore feature on forums

Is there a way to ignore all the posts by one person on these forums?

If there isn’t can I make a request?

Here’s where I stand on this issue, and please don’t hate me for it

While trade chat is ingame and actually in your face with annoying people in it, as it’s a channel automatically joined, I could say the ignore feature is well justified ingame

However, going to a public forum meant for debate or conversation, you are willingly entering a supposed channel, where if you don’t like what you see, it would best be recommended to not look at it.

I couldn’t find a not rude way to say that last part.

What if I consistently find the same people not contributing at all? That all they do is spew the same trash ad nauseum?

If they do fit in the category of trolling or harassment, there’s flags for that. Anything than that, is just not liking what you see. Even if you may think that it is trash.

In real life, when you ignore someone, you simply pay no attention to them. Even when they’re in the same room. Even when they’re talking to you. You pretend they’re not there.

That’ll work for the forums, too.

I have flagged them alot. They don’t do anything.

If there’s nothing done, then it might not be trolling or harassment. Could you give an example of what you’re trying to ignore?

No I cannot as I believe it would violate ToS to call out that person.

You could probably omit any names, the context itself without it should be enough

I agree. Some people have guild/character names I don’t want to see, or they keep saying the same vile garbage over and over again; the very appearance of them sours my mood. Can’t name any names, though.

I could of sworn you’ve made a thread like this before. I remember a gnome warlock making a thread about ignoring people on the forums. Your name looks familiar too.

I appreciate your help but I don’t think I can because what I would ultimately want is to edit the threads through exclusion to engage in meaningful conversation with like-minded individuals.

The social construction of these forums allows schills to interrupt any meaningful conversations a lot of the time.

I agree with this and pretty much my stance for most harassment online, usually.

After being trolled a bit earlier in other threads, I can agree. However, I can’t establish a good enough reason for myself personally to make a public space an area of comfort, as that would detract from the ability of people to speak their minds equally

Yeah. Hurry up and add an ignore function blizzard. I have a few individuals who’ll occupy a permanent residence on it…:rage:

Problem is I end up reading stuff that just gets me mildly irritated because the insulation provided by the schills is causing a lack of meaningful group feedback.

Same, except for when threats start occurring. That’s when you gotta start reporting though, because that stuff is serious(as a person can actually track you down and find you in real life).

NO!

Please don’t do this! Otherwise, everyone will ignore me and I will just be talking to myself on the forums…

Depends on how you view them. Are these a place where feedback is valued? If they are, individual feedback is less impactful than a mega thread with a lot of people in agreement. The message gets diluted by schills and inanity.

I have a thick skin. I tend to not engage outright in flame wars. The thing is that critiques are diluted.

I know the feeling, but sometimes I enjoy engaging those kinds of people regardless. If I just agreed with everyone and had nothing to discuss, the forums would be really boring.

Yeah, I was thinking about that as I typed that. That’s why I said usually at the end.
