Yes. Pet battles have many different facets, the importance of pet composition and leveling up is still very important. Just like in pvp. Good comparison, they are quite similar

Pet battling can be used to obtain quite a large amount of gold through collections obtained. Meanwhile for the average player pvp generates almost no gold. Therefore, pet battles actually have more of a gain as that gold can in turn be used to buy Myth track BOE’s.
Pvp has epic gear that can be upgraded with honor and used in pve content competitively.
You gonna compare that to the abysmal gold you get with pet battles?
With that logic, my IRL job.is eng game content since.i can use my income to buy token gold and buy boe’s.

Level 25 pets are worth a considerable amount of gold. Even more so if you farm rare pets that you can sell for quite a lot. It’s actually quite the lucrative underground business.

The fact is that s2 is better for pvp because it’s simple and increases our kill potential during wings, which is our kill window.
S3 transfers .much of our pressure to dot that can be dispelled (forgot about that, yet another reason lmao) or fallen off from common pvp hurdles.
That brings out pressure and kill power dramatically down.
S2 significantly buffs are kill windows more.than s3.
