As an example of my luck, my guild has done BWL clears since it came out. The crossbow hasn’t dropped once. I am a hunter lol.
It took 16 weeks for the hunter leaf to drop in MC when it was my turn on the list to get it, when it had dropped every week before it was my turn. My guild had seen it every week until it was my turn to get it, then there was a 4 month dry spell for it…
I accept RNJesus hates me, it’s been that way for my 15 years of playing wow.
My average roll is under 20. If you roll a 2, and it’s an item I need as well, you can count on me to roll a 1…
I would think after 16 years of boosting being a thing they wouldnt have released classic wow without the limitations they just put in. Boosting is not exploitative, theres nothing wrong with boosting. You dont like it, thats your prerogative.
Also, this change doesnt stop boosting. They could kill boosting overnight if they wanted to but theyre not targetting boosters with this change, obviously.
Everything in the game has a different drop chance. If you look an item up on wowhead it tells you the chance, and what it drops from… I thought everyone knew this but there ya go. MCP’s drop more often than the hunter leaf.
It’s my personal luck that causes the issue for me. I work around this luck by being persistent. But now even that has become more limited due to blizzard adding new restrictions that are MORE strict than the 2006 April fool’s joke the original vanilla team made about restrictions on dungeon resets.
That should help you understand how bad this change is. The original wow devs used a very similar restriction change (it was 40 per day) as an April fool’s joke patch notes. And this dev team from actiblizzard made it a real patch notes except it’s even more restrictive at 30 resets a day…
When leveling my hunter I did the quest Humbert’s Sword and it has a 7% drop chance, I had to kill over 300 of those dwarves to get it… While other people who had done the quest reported getting it done in under 20 kills.
RNJesus hates me, I have accepted my luck and I beat it with persistence. But now even that is far more limited with this April fool’s patch notes made real…
Edit: to clarify I have had this luck since vanilla, up to legion (where I quit because they removed hunters from the game in everything but name) and I am back for classic.
The entire time I have had this luck, crappy drops, crappy rolls, stupid long grinds on kill for X item quests, exc.
I did TBC heroic every day (missing maybe 1-2 days a month) up to legion for the Raven Lord mount since late TBC. Never got it… That’s over 2000 attempts.
play for 2hrs, take a break, come back, do another 2hrs, go to bed, wake up, play 1hr, go to work, play another 1hr and you are locked for a bit but messing up your day
You could’ve always do
3hrs, go to bed, wake up, 1hr, go to work, 2hrs. That means even longer of a lockout.
If I were to implement any change to the current system, it would be the removal of the 5 hour limit on instances, because it serves absolutely no purpose now.
It would make sense to be able to log in and spend 2 hours jumping instances rather than having to wait, and have it take 6 hours.
I expect there is a reason they specifically left the 5 instance / hour limit.
And please stop it with this nonsense about being judgmental. We’re all judgmental. A new video game gets released, the reviews are mostly negative, you decide not to buy it. You are being judgmental. A new restaurant open in your neighborhood. Yelp reviews are horrible. You decide not to go. You are being judgmental.
