Oh sure, us tanks and healers will get shorter queues but don’t be sorry when you’re starting at a 40 min DPS queues and telling Blizz “FIX IT!!”
Now that Blizz has added additional rewards for tanks and healers doing dungeons, there really isn’t any benefit RDF adds. Cross realm doesn’t MAGICALLY create extra healers and tanks.
Your queue for DPS will be JUST as long as without RDF.
So you’re saying dps will have more time to gather do other productive activities while in queue instead of playing virtual temporary friend simulator?
I played back in the day. We know - the queues can be 40 minutes long. The rewards create more people willing to bite the bullet and tank or heal when they otherwise wouldn’t, which actually lowers dps queues…no?
I’m a tank pushing for RDF, because I also want to enjoy playing the game while on my DPS just as much as I want to enjoy playing the game while tanking.
Sorry, not interested in being background dressing for the bots and farmers.
Building on my previous comment- This is not to mention that having a visible queue estimate would be a greater indicator of when you can expect to be able to run a dungeon as opposed to the unknown of sitting in the current LFG channel / spamming in chat.
And this is bad how? It just means I can continue doing other stuff while in queue instead of sitting in one place focusing on the chat looking for a group to run a 10 minute dungeon.
Apperantly, my server is medium pop. Feels medium in the late afternoon and evening, but in the early hours of the morning, there is barely anyone on, and still says medium.
I think that was the case for me too, actually. It all changed when they allowed transfers here during the prepatch, but before that during non peak hours, the LFG chat was drier than the mojave desert.
The way some of these guys complain, forming a WoW group is harder than climbing Everest.
I’ve seen complaints that they’re “forced to stand in town and watch LFG chat”. Like peering intently at the hyperspeed chat.
Let’s say you wanna run ZF
take LFG off your main chat pane (i never watch it unless i need a gdkp or something, or it’s past midnight and people are trollin)
ctrl-c “LF tank zulfarrak”
/4 ctrl-v
Repeat every 2 min or so (Don’t spam pls)
you can even make a macro “/4 LF tank zulfarrak” and put it on your actionbar (Warning: for highly advanced players only)
maybe /1 ctrl-v every few min if you are in a level-appropriate zone for zulfarrak
Fill heals and dps once you found a tank (will be near-instant)
If i’m a dps or heal, I’m not gonna join some group spamming “LF tank and x for zulfarrak”. I’m only joining ones that have a tank already. 95% of players think the same as me, it’s just awkward af chilling in some group (often in different zones) waiting to find a tank, wondering if this party leader is even spamming properly like he should
I understand if someone only played post-RDF versions of WoW, this process may seem very clunky and counter-intuitive. Hopefully this post can help someone out there
Of course all of this IS a ton of work compared to just hitting the RDF button…turning the speakers up…and chilling on the other side of the house until you hear your RDF trumpet
It probably would NOT be 40 minutes and it’s a guaranteed group over sifting through LFG for MUCH longer.
It’s more than just that of course; you don’t have to pander to groups, trying to get an invite over other dps. You don’t have to hope you are playing an ‘attractive’ class pick that has lots of aoe. You don’t have to worry about being DK/Paladin #100 in queue while getting rejected for classes that use cloth/leather. Hopefully most the plate will at least try to tank but that’s not a realistic expectation.
RDF takes away the anxiety of competing for a spot with all the other dps. You can relax and focus on other things. I will be healing through dungeons but I feel for the dps that get passed over for hours.
