I’ll run across a dps on my multiple healing alts and a low lvl boss fight will take like 5 minutes because a druid boomys DPS is lower than our Aug evokers and tank
If you are gonna be having lowest dps for weeks and you still aren’t improving just take the L and download the addon Hekili that just tells you a rotation to follow. Is it the best for every situation? no, is it better than not knowing what to do? Yes.
If you aren’t going to interrupt or do game mechanics cause DPS go brrrrr then the least you can do is just do avg or above dps so healers and tanks don’t have as much to carry. Hekili if you are finding yourself low on DPS. Thank you.
laughs in main solo healing and then the “you new here thing pic”
yeah good luck telling the dps to do a damn thing lol
crap opens the pandora’s box more times than not.
I’ve seen people live do this and still do absolutely poorly.
Biggest issues additional to just the rotation:
Not key binding: I have seen 1-2 partially clicker pumpers but most of them struggle.
Having skills at the bottom of the bar. Look at any streamer who uses the default ui but hasn’t got a setup in the middle of their screen. They still atypically do well but the eye travel is going to put a big strain on a long gameplay session.
Low APM after having selected a high APM class. Sometimes it’s truely not pressing abilities fast enough.
choosing to go for a ‘complicated’ talent tree that they then cannot utilise fully. Two classes I’ve seen this on is Brewmaster and Demonology Warlock. Both these classes have a very generous easy mode button selection which actually reduces the keybinds by 2-3 buttons. The damage/survivability penalty of their then failure to master it hurts them compared to taking what’s easier.
The game has turned into how fast you can finish your opener the moment the boss is touched and how long can you keep up momentum from it.
When I was trouble shooting my DPS on Sin Rogue I found that I wasn’t pressing enough Envenoms, which means I was indeed pressing buttons too slow, but not just on the opener.
I think that’s when I realized I didn’t really like the playstyle of farting out as many Envenoms as humanly possible, it’s just very boring. Sin turned out to be boring to me.
Outside of pumping Envenom you just refresh dots while waiting for CDs.
I wish the DoT damage was good on its own, I wish you didn’t need to maintain an APM.
I remember raiding back in the day, on boss pull the meters looked more sporadic, people were jumping all over the place trading after the initial pull because all the classes did more base damage, it took a lot longer for the meter to level off.
Now when you raid, whoever does their opener the bestest sky rockets to the top of the meter and basically just stays there, there’s way less ping pong and trading on the meters.
When I have my opener tied to some macros and the 1-2 abilities that can’t be put into a macro? I’m #1 DPS.
When I don’t use that opening macro and just lazily press my way through the opener (still as fast as you can press, it’s just not as fast as the macro), I tend to be 5-7th.
It’s ridiculous to me that (sic) three-tenths of a second could make such a difference, but @Pear is right: it is ABSOLUTELY the difference between an orange and a purple parse.
Especially in a game where we are then locked by a GCD that is a comparative eternity at 1.5s.
I can swap to another tab, change a song selection and adjust the volume, in the time it takes for a GCD to come back around. But a good parse is locked behind hitting 8 abilities at once on the opener?
That’s dummm.
And not for nothing, but if you are doing less-than-tank damage, there’s nothing wrong with using a rotation add-on to help you learn your spec. Because it’s obvious you’re not learning it on your own. Those tools won’t help you with knowing when NOT to follow them, but they can easily get you a solid green/low blue parse.
If you’re grey-parsing, that’s a huge improvement. No shame in that.
So i have it because of alts and such. I think if people can take it with a grain of salt and realize its not for each encounter it can help some people
Like Broodkeeper, Im not going to use COTW on pull because its better to hold for first egg set.
The people who follow it blindly will have an issue for sure
But hitting 8 abilities AT THE SAME TIME as opposed to the 1-3s it takes Joe Average to press/click those abilities IS something you can control. And you control it with a macro.
