The amount off low effort utility will make all your other dps specs obsolete.
Support spec is a ticket of doom, better hope your class never receive one especially if you like your existing dps specs.

Imagine if they reworked elemental into support because they havenât been able to get a functioning DPS spec in three expansions.
Being honest here I think the support role should be canned after this expansion, I think that augmentation needs to convert into either a tank spec or a bronze/black dragonflight DPS role.
People keep claiming that adding more support roles will solve the issues that augmentation is causing, but that isnât the case. The primary issue with augmentation is how badly it breaks classes and specs with the buffs that it offers, especially when they released it in its uncapped state. Their some what controlling it this coming tier by capping ebon might buffs to only two at a time on a target, along with prescience, yet I guarantee itâs going to be the same deal of bring 4 and buff 8 other specific DPS that have frequent CDâs that line up with ebon might and profit handsomely.
Support roles just donât work in a game like WoW, they work in templated games in that all characters act and play the same way damage wise. Yet with the amount of variables that interplay in WoW it makes it pretty much impossible to have a functional support role, let alone more than one given unless you plan to carbon copy how augmentation works, just reskin it for the class to match the theme. It will just turn into stack four of whatever the most broken version is, which will perpetuate the same issues we have now with augmentation.
I mean you can do AOTC and +20s (and even further) without any aug. Sure, itâs meta to have a certain group comp, as it has always been. Are you arguing that because thereâs a meta at the highest levels of content they âbreaksâ others because they become not viable?
Shamans were the original support class. A 4th support spec would probably work fantastically for them if Blizzard went into a more totem buff/debuff theme like Classic shamans.
Not every class can have a support spec, itâd work well with some and not at all with others. But, maybe some classes that are mono-themed, like mage, lock, rogue, hunter, could have a support spec which might just be a hybrid DPS and buff/debuff class?
I had always hoped that theyâd made demo into a proper tank spec, like can tank raids, queue in content as a tank etc.
Absolutely nuts how world rank 1 dev in M+ isnât even in top 800 score for augs. I hope hunter never gets a support spec ![]()
Poor pres and dev enjoyers
or, dev is just garbage since they gutted it.
I donât really play enough these days to say with certainty, but others players who I do trust seem to think Devastation is very, very good.
Itâs just that Augmentation is the best spec in the game right now, so as an Evoker player you really ought to play Aug instead.
I play what I want. I do not choose my class or spec based on what people think the âmetaâ is, and I honestly couldnât care less what people think. None of this matters unless you are in a world first progression guild like Method that have to do stuff extremely undergeared where every 0.1% counts.
I havenât done much endgame on my evoker yet, but if I do it will be as preservation or devastation. And anyone that doesnât like it can bite me, lol.
Iâm wondering what currently happens if you go with 3 augvokers in a dungeon? What would happen if they added more support specs and every second group was tank, heals and 3 support?
I have to say, Aug is trash. I am about to hit 3k rating in M+ and I have yet to see one pull their own weight. Every single time I have invited one, an additional dps would have been a better choice-- and I mean that-- Every single time, inviting an Aug has been a mistake.
I simply will not take them anymore.
If itâs an added talent I wouldnât mine.
Currently the 3 augs would be perma buffing each other and the tank healer would get 3x ebon might - aug doesnt do enough dps on its own so the tank would be the top dps.
Next patch though, aug buffs cap out at 2 so having a 3rd aug would be completely wasted due to not being even able to buff anyone.
Define pull their own weight? 80% of its âomgawd aug dps is brokenâ is based purely on the buffd playeer - so - if you always feel an aug is dragging you down, its entirely possible that you infact are the issue as the buffed dps.
Blizzard have specifically said in a Blue Post that they will NOT be changing any classes to a Support, I think theyâd rather make a new spec for classes instead.
Thatâs the point theyâre making. Augâs introduction near enough invalidated devastation as a spec in high end content.
Iâm the healer, and Iâm telling you that a 3rd dps would have contributed more than that junk aug spec, in every single run I ever took one on⌠And I mean, beyond a shadow of any doubt.
I donât think thatâs augs fault though given their gameplay is as simple as it is, buffing people requires the people youâre buffing to know what theyâre doing. And given the slew of data we have showing that augs are ridiculously strong in both raids and mythic+âŚ
