They’re the people who wouldn’t have gotten to max level or continued even playing in any community, that sharding is being implemented to absorb.
And there is zero indication from any statement or claim made by a Blizzard Employee, that indicates they intend to do this.
The fact is, Sharding will never disappear as a “looming threat” because there’s no way for them to completely remove it from the architecture. So even if they said “Yes we won’t shard launch, or ever” it would always remain an option. If you don’t trust Blizzard, walk when they fail that test. Till then, simmer down.
I can claim that sharding wasn’t in Vanilla and that Blizz feels it’s antithetical to the Vanilla experience. I also recognize that without hard numbers it’s all a guessing game at this point.
And that is the start of a discussion. You’re not saying “Lets not discuss it” when you make a claim, then tell me to simmer down. You’re saying “Don’t argue.”
I’m saying “Don’t start the debate until we have more information”.
I disagree. Since it’s obvious that Blizz (at least in some way) pays attention to feedback on the forums, there is no harm in discussing topics that have not been ironed out by Blizz at the time.
The problem comes from people being dismissive of facts or touting feelings as fact or misrepresenting statements.
We aren’t going to make any sort of agreement, because one side is literally saying “We’re not budging” and haven’t changed from their original position. Personally, I’ve gone from max 3 months, starters plus Barrens, down to max 1 week, starters only. About the only person I’ve seen mellow from the “No Sharding” side is MatCauthon.
If so many people hated it why’d you continue to act braindead and fight 75 people for the same 5 mobs. People can easily come up with creative solutions to get around hordes of people waiting around to tag mobs by creating groups and leaving the overpopulated starting zone to farm higher lvl mobs. Crazy how there are solutions players can come up with while working together with other players to get around problems in the game instead of expecting Blizzard to cater to their every need. Looking back on the expansion packs after vanilla you’ll notice a steady trend in how Blizzard attempted to make the game “better” by focusing on all the things people “hated” about classic (things people “hated”: lvling and especially lvling alts takes too long, traveling the world is too time consuming, my class can’t do what their class does, takes too long to find people to run dungeons/raids, and there are many more examples others can come up with), so glad they’re making x changes to improve the things people “hated” is what lead to the downfall of WoW and the current state of retail. Blizzard please dismantle your customer service department and stop listening to every small gripe and difficulty people have to deal with while playing.
