@Blizzard. We get it. Back in the day, you had less advanced technology to run servers. Back in the day, if a server was too crowded in one area, it would cause server lag and server crashes. We get it.
In a Q&A, you said that most people don’t actually understand that Sharding and Phasing are two different things. We get it. However, you also stated that you are giving us Vanilla. We want the pain of a server being too crowded in an area. We want the joy of seeing 1000 people in one location.
I’m trying to keep this as short as possible. If you add Sharding in Classic, you will fail. People will leave and go back to Private Servers. You said you are giving us Vanilla, so give us Vanilla.
You don’t speak for the majority. Sit down.
Your opinion is that of one person. It’s not as important as you think.
Let the entertainment begin.
If their servers are unplayable, why would people continue to play $15/month when they can goto a pserver for free. Pservers that will now be able to better simulate vanilla wow using info from classic.
I’m allowed to voice my opinion just as much as anyone else. You yourself can sit down.
I just would like to know the extent of it.
Psst… blue… I’d much rather hear about beta plans and a release date.
If a Private server can stand not having sharding with 1000’s of people, surely Blizzard can too.
You can voice your opinion. Stop acting like it’s the end all be all.
Hint: it’s not.
Except that they can’t without using dynamic respawns.
Their thinking is to only use it at launch to avoid long term population problems.
Which is a problem even private servers struggle with. The servers that aren’t the latest FRESH server can be near ghost towns.
I don’t want sharding but it won’t be the end of the world if it’s just starting zones
We get it. You didn’t play Vanilla and you don’t understand what makes Vanilla what it is.
Hint: Shoo little one.
History never repeats!
I tell myself before I got to sleep
All the things I learnt from songs were a lie.
Ion stated that they plan on using Sharding for the first two weeks, which is launch. That’s understandable. However, there was a Q&A in which they were still deciding on whether or not to continue using Sharding afterwards. So we still aren’t 100% sure.
I didn’t really want to do this… but…
Honey…
You’re a 3 post L120 with no Vanilla titles, wearing a midriff bare Transmog, as a Blood Elf Demon Hunter.
… you have zero credibility here.
The Q&A from blizzcon I watched, they said they weren’t sure they were going to use sharding in the first place, they never mentioned sharding afterwards.
I’m gonna need links to that statement.
Ion’s original statement was that they were looking at using sharding in a “time limited way” at launch. He never said 2 weeks as far as I know.
I have never seen anything from Blizzard saying they were considering using it post-launch.
This wasn’t made clear since I wanted to keep the post short. Sharding during launch will probably be unavoidable. I’m not talking about Sharding during launch. Ion stated that Sharding / Phasing will happen during launch. However, there was a Q&A where they discussed Sharding even after launch. That is what I’m focused on.
Phasing won’t be possible in classic.
If they shard after launch, I’m not going to play Classic, as simple as that. I don’t believe they will though. They understand how ‘antithetic’ to the core philosophies of Classic/Vanilla that is and understand how they would be shooting themselves in the foot by ruining the experience through sharding post launch.
