Ah yes, the covenant that strips away your memories and forces you to be a guider of souls for all eternity is a far better fit than Maldraxxus, the literal army of the Shadowlands for Warriors.
Shaman has the same benefit it had in Legion: it fits because it’s its own thing. Shamans are spiritual guides for their people. Literally any covenant works since it just depends on what the shaman’s culture valued.
Also technically: Death Knights belong in no covenant but cast down into the Maw, being mawforged perversions of the Maldraxxus war machine and all.
Likewise, Demon Hunters don’t belong in the Shadowlands at all, since they’re demons. They respawn and haunt in the twisting Nether until their soul is destroyed. Then they’re just gone. Period.
Warlocks are more for Maldraxxus, where they can continue their dark studies and be rewarded for it. They just have to switch to necromancy.
Venthyr are for priests and paladins of the more…catholic type of leaning: the whips and flogging to teach you to sin no more types. Rogue goes anywhere warrior does goes anywhere mage does. These are just general classes where it’s your characters story that matters, not the class.
I’d say Night Fae for shaman. I mean look at soulshape, then look at ghost wolf. Pretty similar feel there. Monks could also make sense for Night Fae since they’re connected to the celestials and Ardenweald is where wild gods go when they die, although Kyrian does also make sense for the traditional monk mindset.
Rogue is best with Venthyr, I think. Or Necrolord with their house of eyes. I mean outlaws, assassins and spies don’t seem a good fit for Kyrian or Night Fae.
Exactly. Although the necrolord theme fits fine for a DK because of the whole undead thing, I feel like Venthyr hits the spot better.
DK’s weren’t always dead nor are they just walking corpses (unless you’re undead race?) So for a human DK for example, it’s great to RP that you were once a pally who fell to Frostmourne. Then broke free of the Lich Kings curse and now you’re essentially an immortal human.
DK’s had enough pride about them that they refused to bend to the will of Arthas which is why they were able to break free to begin with. Pride seems to be a prevalent theme with Venthyr.
The aesthetics also go in line with the whole “was a noble human champion, now a fallen immortal DK”. The human is still there but now we have a layer of death and immortality = vampirism.
Necrolords are just too cliche of the whole uber undead everything and bones everywhere. I feel like it fits better towards a warrior class who’s sole purpose is to kill and…turn flesh into bones after death and decay.
From a non-RP perspective, Venthyr also add a very nice layer of mobility for DK’s. So it’s a win/win!
Warriors are that, but also many things. A warrior could be a berserker, a run of the mill soldier, a Mercenary, etc etc. And they fit a hell of a lot better in Maldraxxus then they would in Bastion. Bastion’s main purpose is to help the Arbiter with souls, Maldraxxus is defending the whole of Shadowlands when any given threat arises which is generally what a warrior does.
Fury the berserk type warrior is not a defender, neither is arms. You can also have prot warrior in an amry, they were probably thhe most common type actually.
Rogue is also perfect for Maldraxxus, there was a whole house dedicated to them.
