Rogue fits fine in either necro or venthyr IMO.
Undead warlock necrolord is probably the most “perfect match” RP choice I can think of.
And I agree, Shaman doesn’t really have a home here, but I don’t think mages really do either.

Wrong you can defend somebody with a sword, you can defend somebody with rage, but when you defend somebody for money you’re not a warrior you’re the hired help.
No mages Necrolords, because Necromancy is magic, and there is magic everywhere here in Maldraxxus especially that tower on north of the map
Covenants are about philosophy, not skill set. No class fits any Covenant because class is just how you fight, not what you believe.
I just wanted to add, bards belong in Ardenweald
It’s a specific type of magic that mages don’t deal in though, from a traditional ‘fantasy’ point of view. I get that that often won’t apply in this game though.
I should add that Fae feels like probably the closest fit for a shaman, but again, not really great.
Bardenweald. Please make this happen Blizz.
The covenants aren’t really class based though. It’s an ideology and personality choice. Different people value different things so any covenant could appeal to any class. Your fighting style is pretty irrelevant.
And it doesn’t have to be based on that either. We’re not joining these people permanently, nor do we even have to agree with their ways. It could be a more practical approach like you think they’d be very valuable in the fight against the Jailer so you want to help there. Or you find them academically/magically interesting and want to learn more. Or you think they can give you the most power and benefits out of the deal.
There’s all kinds of reasons! You can spin it any way you want for your character.
I went Ven due to the aesthetics, and roleplay as a dude finding a way in their crazy world. Which could easily be applied to all covenants, but again, the aesthetics grabbed my attention ! Can’t wait to see what other folks have chosen!
I disagree, many classes definitely have a philosophy behind them.
They don’t though.
Many classes have notable members who adhere to a certain philosophy. But classes are not coherent organizations with unified goals and philosophies.
They’re just a specific way someone fights.
Only exception would be Demon Hunter, since they are in fact a coherent organization.
I mean if you ever paid attention to the quest text of class quests and campaigns you’d know this isn’t true for most. Maybe a few like mage, but definitely the minority.
Shamans fit Venthyr (blood lust especially horde. Many souls that are horde souls come to the Venthyr).
The Venthyr also have sinstone golems.
And Night Fae with the loa for trolls at least.
I mean if you paid attention to the quest text of class quests you’d know most races don’t even call version of a class the same thing the game calls them.
Vindicators are not the same as Blood knights are not the same as Prelates ect. . .
And that’s not even counting all the individuals who just fight like that without belonging to any organization.
Just because Legion thought it would be cool to pretend classes were all coherent groups with the same goals and values doesn’t mean they are.
Jeez some of you are extremely tilted over the blue bois.
My DK is a Venthyr because his soul inhabits a vampyr body. My hunter is a Necrolord because he’d love to kickass for all eternity. My DH is also a Venthyr because… eh…
You may not like the direction it took, but Legion is definitely canon.
The only thing that tilts me about Bastion is when I am forced to engage in low rent flappy bird for an anima daily. Other than that, Bastion and its smurfs can suck air.
It wasn’t the optimal choice but how could I not choose Necrolord on Raist?
It is definitely canon, but it didn’t make a billion different orders all the same group. It just shoved them in the same room and pretended that made them the same.
