"If you don't like it go to Classic"

I think Blizzard should change WoW to be more classic and create a BfA server for those players to go to. Then when they’re unhappy with the state of retail we can tell them if they don’t like it they can go to BfA.

Jest aside, it doesn’t matter if Blizz releases Classic, TBC, and Wrath servers. Ultimately, it’s retail that matters most, because that’s the one that gets all the new content. Arguing that someone should go to a version of the game from 15 years ago to have fun is nonsensical.

Whatever model retail adopts is always relevant.

I can’t wait until someone tells me to go play Wrath.
“I will, sir. I verily will.”

Each person should get there own server in the expac of their choosing and grouping is disabled. There. All complaints permanently solved!

I’m confused. Mostly the phrase is used by people who enjoy retail but don’t like classic to shrug off comments they don’t like against retail.

It might as well be equivalent of the #nochanges crowd for retail.
Either way it’s simply a means to end discussion which in my opinion is generally negative, discussion is generally important for progression.

Precisely.

This would be me in BC and Cata. LOL

They should definitely release Classic+ content without delving into TBC and above changes. That would keep subscriptions up for many more years to come.

Each game has a largely different audience with entirely different philosophies on what the game needs. The most glaring is Classic is more focused on a larger time investment for a bigger sense of satisfaction when it pays off. Retail is more geared towards the idea you shouldn’t have to invest time into the game as if it’s a part time job to get nice rewards out of it.

Each have their different negatives and merits. As for what matters most, the new content will always have that initial pull but I actually think once Classic progresses upward into TBC or Wrath where they likely have a lot more of the pieces and putting them together is a simpler task it could lead to an interesting point.

Like Classic isn’t for everybody, but Wrath was a really good middle ground and is usually regarded as the best era for the game by a large amount of people.

Is kind of funny to me though that any complaint regarding BFA is largely dismissed with “Go play Classic then!” as if people either aren’t playing both versions actively for different reasons, or there are some people Classic just doesn’t appeal to but they want WoW to go back to its older roots so that it is new while still being enjoyable to them.

Nothing particularly bad about Blizzard taking a few design decisions from Classic and trying to reincorporate them to the game, what is bad is depending on what they decide to adapt if they start doing this. Issue being though it’s a very delicate matter because people are all different with entirely different outlooks and desires. It all really boils down to what people actually want out of the game and that will in turn shape what they feel is the “superior” game. Which is a claim that admittedly can never be made on an objective level, it can only be made on a personal level. What you personally will deem as the better version will seldom be the case for another just because you have very different ideals on what the game should be focused on.

You guys got your Classic and the game you want. Please don’t try to turn Retail into that. Let us have Retail for those of us who prefer that style.

Okie dokie

Yeah, if only there wasn’t a bleed over. I honestly can’t tell which group I hate more. The Classic enthusiasts trying to turn Retail into Classic, or the Retail enthusiasts trying to turn Classic into Retail.

Classic board is coated in people trying to make them tweak the game in ways Classic was never meant to be tweaked. Similarly it’s the inverse here.

Bottom line, if you need a ton of changes to a game to justify playing it, it probably just isn’t for you and you should look toward the other version.

Like I said. Two wildly different games with two wildly different audiences with wildly different opinions on how the game should be designed. I think Blizzard releasing Classic was their line in the sand of saying “Look, we’re not overhauling the modern game back to Classic, here is Classic, go play it instead of complaining.”

I can agree there. The #NoChanges crowd got their #NoChanges and that’s how it should be.

Both sides have their game now. We should leave them both be.

In reality we actually didn’t. Blizzard felt it necessary to ramrod a ton of stupid things in that never should have been in like phasing.

My main focus for my no changes opinion was because it’s the same foot in the door thinking that made us turn away from the game as every small change justified yet another small change.

Now on Classic forums we deal with people demanding a 10g cap on respecs, the occasional joker demanding LFG, removal of the alchemy lab requirement on flask crafts because they don’t want to run Scholo and they preface a lot of these on “Well they’ve already changed some things, what’s one more QOL change?”

So you’d be okay with changing retail for future expansions if they create a BfA server for those who prefer that style?

Eh, on the layering thing, I can understand why. I did play Classic on day one and it was a nightmare even with layering. It’d be totally unplayable without it and Blizzard was understandably in a bind. As far as I know, it’s gone now though right?

But yep I do look at the Classic forums from time to time and see a lot of requests like that. And I agree Blizz shouldn’t give in to them. Even if I might be tempted to ask them to make certain specs more viable (I really wanted to play a shadow priest) it wouldn’t be right, as this is the game you guys wanted, flaws and all.

No. Retail should continue as it is. You guys got your game.

Sounds like you want the better part of the deal where you get all the new content and updates.

Maybe we should get retail and you be permanently frozen in an expac. I mean, you seem to think that’s even either way.

You have two choices. Play the harsher, older game, or play the accessible, newer one. I made my choice, you make yours.
