This is a very difficult thing for many people to accept but it is the reality. You being afraid of it is unfortunate but does not make it less true.
“I disable chat because I don’t want to read people’s messages in an MMO especially in a competitive game mode” - Well unfortunately, competitive modes aren’t for you and you are griefing your team. Your refusal to communicate and acknowledgment communication in a competitive game mode is griefing. You can disagree and that’s fine but that doesn’t make you correct.
“It’ll be toxic people telling me I’m doing bad or I’m doing something wrong” - Again, competitive modes are not for you if this scares you. Having to come to terms with the reality that you are probably not that good in general or not doing good in that round or BG is a tough pill to swallow but denial does not make it untrue.
Sometimes I just turn it off, its always the same negative noise, I like the horde better because they are less like alliance, However, they sometimes do have a someone melt down because they are always losing.
I do know that feeling and usually if I am not winning after a few horde games and a few alliance games I just log off for the day or evening and go do something else like I am doing right now, trolling the forum, that is all I ever here is when someone does not like what you have to say you are now considered a troll… The noise in the game has leaked into the forums.
I am with kind Gentleman. When I add up all 9 of my characters I have of play time, its says 659 in game days. Have a great day!
I’m ngl if before the game even starts the group is being negative/ toxic why tf would I attempt to communicate further? I’ll play my best 100% but I’ve gotten into more games than not where before the gates open half the team is being insanely toxic or “do what I say idiot” clearly talking isn’t an option if I wanted to.
You wouldn’t , it drives me crazy how people immediately see a few players together and it becomes the oh my it’s a premade (Dr. Smith from the 1960’s lost in space) “We’re doomed, we’re doomed I tell ya”
People either have an idea of where to go and what to do or they don’t and you’d have a better chance of convincing them to change their politics than rethink how they play
I mean it does make it tougher on everyone but at the same time it isn’t griefing.
Ya this is a tough one because it depends on how people are communicating and how this is said.
Ya this. I often times will still communicate and just put people on ignore. I don’t have time for dumb stuff. Nobody is perfect so mistakes will happen etc.
Ya definately some elitism coming through here. It’s one thing to tell people why communicating can be/is important it’s another to tell them they don’t belong in rated. A game they pay for btw. Blitz is a casual BG rated mode. It’s not going to be like premade modes or even RSS.
Ya I was told to go back to M+ (I literally have done like 2 M+ dungeons since Legoin lol) because a Warlock was trying to tell me a Mistweaver shouldn’t be carrying the flag. I tried explaining they were literally the best FC in the game (at that point) and they told me I was dumb and go back to M+ lol.
People adapting to situations is definitely an issue. It seems if things don’t go exactly how they want it to they just give up. Which often all it takes is losing one team fight at the start. I have had people say the game is over because we lost the fight in mid in EotS but we also got both bases lol.
You going to punish new players who are learning? How about vision impaired players? How about people who have already received warnings and disabled chat to avoid punishments? Or how about just people who tired of constant spam and trash talking in bgs? It honestly gets annoying, especially when you have one player mouthing off and trying to tell you how to play.
My favorite it when you’re behind by one cart in mines and some player says “You’re all garbage. Next.” While I think chat is important, it’s also equally derisive and I can more than understand why players don’t want to look at it.
I mean they will because they probably lose that game and fall closer to where they deserve to be by not actually playing the game in any meaningful capacity.
Until the default UI has some form of ping integration allowing you to say “3 incoming at Waterworks” the way something like REPorter can, having the option to disable chat entirely for Blitz shouldn’t be a thing.
It’s fine to be silent. Voluntarily blinding yourself to comms is something else, even if there’s a big chunk of players who fail to communicate effectively.
Default UI really needs integration of callout apps and BGE, though. I like to ping someone on the other team early on in a game to check how many people on my team have BGE or similar by how fast people target the ping. It’s never a good sign when you only get 2 clicks.
You’ve gotta be very careful calling blacksmith “BS” too
It already is though. I’m sure plenty of people just have their guild chat or anything else open beyond bg or group chat. I’d assume most of us set up custom windows for chat.
I mean I’m all adding better tools for communicating, but those players are just going to ween themselves out anyways.
Yes, pings go to the chat, but the ping system can’t communicate “3 inc” or “5 inc” it can only say “Warning” or “attack” or “on my way” and such
It’s important to call out how many people are coming to a base, not just that “someone” is coming. 5 people hitting Mines and 1 person hitting mines are very different scenarios requiring very different reactions. If you have chat disabled, there is no way to communicate that. Likewise for telling someone the cap score thresholds in EOTS.
The option to mute yourself to prevent yourself from crashing out in chat is fine and understandable. Being able to completely remove chat (not hide it in an unopen panel, remove it so that you are unable to receive incoming messages entirely) is not.
That’s a feature that was implemented with solo play in mind, and as a protective measure for parents; it shouldn’t carry over into rated formats in a game where the social clause tells you that you must try to be helpful.
On a very slightly related side-note, you might notice a lot of lusts are late currently if the only provider in the group is a hunter. That’s because our pets are currently bugged and frequently zone into instances with their abilities disabled until they’re dismissed and resummoned.
For Blitz last season it was possible to get to 3000 cr playing at 3400 mmr with chat disabled the whole time.
I disabled it because of the addons people have that spam stuff like “Gerrano - Mal’Ganis interupted —> Thasiums - Theramore” If I see an addon had spammed chat with something, I would ignore those players.
Also because you would look at chat when something would pop up and it’s all just people and their feelings, getting upset because they lost some rating. I don’t care about rating and don’t want to look down to read that stuff. if you are upset, just cry irl and not in game please. I started out ignoring those players too.
Then my ignore list filled up and I had to remove people to add more. So I just disabled chat and had no problems.
You can just say at the start of the bg, “where do you guys want me to go?” From there, you can just look at your map if you need to. Look at the map, see where your teammates are at. Look at raid frames to see who is taking damage or are in combat.
If you want to disable chat in blitz, do it. Maybe going for r1 and you are playing against the same people, then enable it lol. But you can get Strategist and 3k no problem.
