If you cancel an auction

If you cancel an auction. It should return to you as a BoP and not as a BoE. This will stop the bots from cancel scanning because they can’t relist the item.

Blizz can have a popup warning to let players know if they cancel it. The item will be BoP and can’t be relisted.

That’s an opinion.

A bad one at that. Will cause more havoc that it tries to clear out.

This is certainly one of the takes of all time.

So, if I list an item and see prices start to plunge, I can’t relist at the price it is being bought at I need to wait around for no reason? What a terrible idea.

Yes, you’d have to wait for it to be returned to you after the auction expires.

My other suggestion was to break TSM but some people don’t want that. This still allows people to post their auctions with whatever addon they want to use.

Why screw over everyone who accidentally hits the wrong key and puts something that cost them 30k to craft up for 4500g?

No.

That is what the popup warning is there for.

You’d have to pair it with longer available uptime, which has bad ramifications for the economy.

Anyone who has used the AH even a decent amount has likely listed something for the wrong price because of a misclick. There would be so many tickets about this the first day it was implemented.

Hard pass but thx.

Popup warning doesn’t help someone who made a posting error.

This whole idea is a non-starter.

that is a very bad idea… no one would put anything up on the AH for fear that it becomes BOP if someone undercuts them.

If the auction expires you can repost it.

You’re trying to figure out a way to stop bots and the WoW community is going against you. that should tell you all you need to know.

Cancelling an auction != waiting for an auction to time out.

Personally I think this isn’t a good idea, but “muh people undercut me” doesn’t actually mean anything when you can wait for it to either sell or time out at the price you put it up for.

It’s a surprisingly regular thing around here. Raises my eyebrows.

To the point that I guess we now have genuine bot deniers. It just isn’t happening at all to some people.

Alternative idea. If it catches you spam doing it, then it does it. This way it leaves room for people who make an oopsie.

Just thottle/limit cancel scanning.
a few times per daily reset is enough for mistakes.
