It becomes a problem if the group doesn’t want to wait around for you to piddle around with no threat because you’re leveling a weapon skill. Not sure how else to explain it.
If the group doesn’t care, then no, its not a problem.
You guys seem to forget its implied that the guy was running a dungeon, with other people.
EDIT: You can level a weapon skill up from 0/300 to 290/300 in two pulls? Thats interesting.
EDIT 2: You guys are also forgetting that the OP is stating the weaponskill threshold in question was 45/300. If its out of 300 its indicating that the tank is level 60, and thus presumably running a level 60 dungeon.
This isn’t Wailing Caverns or something where the cap is what, 0/100 for players that are level appropriate running through?
The group shouldn’t even know your skill isn’t capped. If the tank can’t hold aggro against a single target, they have other problems. Like I said, if you think it’s a problem, then grind your skills solo. Not everyone has the problem that OP has.
It becomes pretty obvious if the mobs are just running by the tank like he doesn’t exist.
It becomes increasingly obvious if you use any sort of damage meter, and you look at the tanks damage out put, and you see, under Melee - that 89 out of 90 were Misses, then yes. Its obvious.
When the tank announces right before the first pull of Scholomance that he has to level up his One-Handed Sword skill, then is utterly unable to keep threat on any mob for the next ten minutes and causes the run to take twice as long and be twice as hard as it has to be, then it is an issue.
It isnt hard to go find some mobs outside a dungeon and beat on them for ten minutes or so. Anyone can easily do that without wasting the group’s time.
It would be like if the group’s healer said “Oh sorry guys I only have rank 1 of all of my healing spells, let me Hearth and buy the new ones real quick”. Nobody would be fine with that. They’d be wanting to know why he hadnt done that before coming to the dungeon, or before even asking to join the group.
Tanks dont get a free pass for stupidity just because they’re tanks.
Come with bags empty, gear repaired and food for you/pet
Learn about kill orders and how to appropriately attack a mob/boss
Pay attention to markings
It really isn’t about blowing up damage meters anymore
Sorry, I simply can’t take your post seriously. Tanks have to deal with all sorts of crap. It won’t hurt you at all to hold off for a few minutes until the skill increases enough for the tank to be effective.
It’s not about tank or dps or healer roles. It’s about players. Some players are bad, have no awareness, and have no interest in learning. I kick them from my group if they display this type of behavior. If I come across an unskilled player, but they communicate and are willing to learn I give them much more leeway.
