If we could just get 1 PvP server

I guess if there is a place where hard core PVPers want to hang out, it would be a win win.

Just hope blizzard would control faction balance to a degree. PVP servers became unplayable for the minority faction starting in BC.

I only played PVP servers and didn’t transfer off, but i sure grew to despise non-balance.

My alliance toons were ganked non-stop in BC to the point were i could only play my horde toons for a while until it settled down.

I still play both factions.

I think you need to let people play how they want to. If some peoples “friends” choose to join a pvp server, there shouldn’t be others who try to stop them. Just like I wouldn’t want to try to stop someone from joining an RP server. If that’s where you want to be, fine. If I really need to play with you that badly I can roll an alt, otherwise trying to control someone else’s play style is not how they game should be played

You can have your pvp server when Blizzard brings back all the rewards they took out of the game.

I’m playing classic until retail gets a real pvp server anyways. So I got all the time it takes.

Does a pvp server hurt ?

Looks like you have your solution.

I’ve said multiple times in this post that I agree there should be one or more PVP servers brought back. Unlike in 2004, players today have the ability to fully understand what a PVP server is like from looking back at WoW’s history with PVP servers. Combined with how quickly you can level and gear characters compared to back in the day, it’s not nearly as much of a burden if some portion of your friends want to play on a PVP server.

But just because there are fairly low cost ways for everyone to be happy does not mean those costs are zero. I have no problem with advocating for PVP servers, but I have big problems with the mischaracterizations that get thrown around regarding their impact on the game. For some portion of the player base, the existence of a PVP server would create awkward moments where a player has to decide between playing with friends or playing on a server type they would most enjoy. While I personally do not think those moments would happen frequently enough or be so costly to justify not having PVP servers, I fully understand how someone else might value those costs to be high enough to oppose the idea. I’m just asking for an honest discussion on the subject; presenting PVP servers as having no impact on players who don’t want to play on a PVP server is a dishonest take.

Nobody here is being “dishonest” we are saying it would be selfish of someone to be mad and upset “if” one of their friends decides to join a pvp server.

If “war mode” is the same the same thing as a pvp server, they shouldn’t have any worries about people leaving for a pvp server anyways, right? But IF they did… “if”, nobody should be prevented from playing a game they pay for, the way they want to. Otherwise, you can have more than 1 alt on different servers, if their friends thought it was that important that they play together, they would still play on a normal server too. War mode can stay on the normal servers just as they have always been. But some players want a true pvp server

Horde side, Daggerspine checking in! Also got Grunt title on my priest back when shadow melted faces. I’d never do PvP servers again. It was my friends that dragged me there.

Don’t join one

This is one heck of a deflection. Where did anyone say they were upset their friends joined a PVP server? It’s that having friends on a different kind of server than you enjoy creates a decision point of needing to either not play with those friends or play on that kind of server that you don’t enjoy. Nothing more, nothing less. This was a problem back when WoW launched, as exhibited by many of the people speaking out in opposition to your suggestion in this thread. And it would become a problem were PVP servers to make a return. It would be less of a problem today, but a problem nonetheless.

The dishonesty is from your complete refusal to acknowledge this decision point would exist. It is one of the primary reasons why PVP servers became such a problem in the past, that friends were left with that awkward decision point. Refusing to acknowledge it doesn’t help your argument.

And now you’re arguing points I’ve simply not made. I know several detractors of your suggestion have said this, but you won’t find it coming from me.

I really don’t know how much clearer I can say this. My opposition isn’t to there being a PVP server, you can find any number of my posts in this thread saying we should have one or more return so players like yourself have a PVP server. My opposition is to your complete dismissal of anyone who thinks the problems having this choice creates isn’t worth the benefits. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, this attitude hurts your argument far more than it helps. You really need to address why that awkward choice is worth accepting; merely repeating sentiments like I quoted below doesn’t do that in the slightest.

This selfish argument man…ug. We see it too much with this subject.

Look, if your friends and/or family that you want to play with so badly are on a PvP server, it is because they WANT to play on a PvP server. What YOU want is to deny them what they want, so YOU can play on the type of server you prefer.

You can either play the way they want to play and join in, or you can go do your own thing. But to want the game creators to delete the existence of the game-type they prefer just so you don’t have to feel uncomfortable? Selfish.

Again, I’m not saying a pvp server will cause no division in the player base. It may cause some, but what I am saying is someone who pays 15 bucks a months to play a game should have the choice to play on a pvp server if they choose to do so. Or if they think a normal server suits them, they will stay there. Someone’s person choice is personal to them and shouldn’t be disrupted just because someone else feels “uncomfortable”

Non pvp players are never forced to join a pvp server. Now, if their friends choose to play there by their own free will because they find it more enjoyable, that should be allowed no matter how other parties “feel”

You’re talking about being dishonest by not addressing an issue, your point doesn’t make sense because I have been saying there should be free will in a game people pay to play, even if it makes others “uncomfortable” because they also have free will choice and will never be forced to play the game the way they do not want to.

Honestly. That doesn’t sound like a bad idea… I do understand them trying to mix different hobbies together. However, just finding too many mixes in guilds. I rather just have one solid-based PvP server. Not doing multiple things at the same time.

Yes. War mode is more complicated and broken than pvp servers ever were. They were imbalanced sometimes, but they have a solution for that now with balance rules

I’d rather they gave us WoW: PVP. A game client outside of the RPG world where it’s only PVP. No quests, no raids, nothing except PVP.

That’s plunderstorm.

With WoW Classes. I think PVP should be decoupled from the game.

Now what if those friends want to play with me? What if they invite me and say ‘hey you play/are interested in this game too? Come play with us!’ They either have to convince me to join the PvP server, or they have to create entirely different characters on an entirely different server and do twice the work to keep two sets of characters up-to-date. Whereas, with War Mode, I can create a character on their server and play as I like without them having to forfeit progression.

We need real pvp servers back in modern wow again
