If we could just get 1 PvP server

that’s not a bad idea. i would love to pvp all the way up again

Allow free transfers on and off that server (with the caveat that characters transferring to the server need to have been created on that server first. This hopefully helps prevent ‘out-of-towners’ from coming in with BiS 70s and immediately crushing PvP) and I have no issue with it. Confusion sure, since I still see War Mode as the superior option but I have no grievance with it.

Agree with most of this, except the guards one. Sure, make the guards stronger than most players, but don’t make them invincible. Raiding an opposite faction city is part of world pvp. It should be very challenging, but not impossible. Even a monthly reward for slaying alliance king or horde war chief would be neat.

I have a love/hate relationship with WM. Currently, it’s dead mode minus the Sparks of Life rapid GY spawn at Emerald Dream.

Which BTW, is the most PvP fun I’ve EVER had in the game because it’s FFA and 5 man based rapid spawn.

Outside of that, it’s not even remotely fun and requires a considerable amount of time and effort to get any fights going as the zones are massive, people rapidly fly away and honestly the phasing is disruptive.

#6 needs to be a closed circuit. Just this server alone. But, my fear…well justified…is that it will become a contest of dominance where one faction will diminish to the point it has no presence.

There has to be some mitigation. And incentives to fight on both sides to offset inequality beyond just XP and gold. How that is done, is above my pay grade; otherwise it will fail eventually.

It could mean limiting numbers per faction. Again, I think it would require observation on a regular basis rather than the traditional “hands off PvP” or PvP happened past response.

I submitted a suggestion in the in game menu, asking them nicely for a pvp server and listing the reasons why it would make my gameplay more enjoyable. I would encourage others to do the same if they can and have time to.

My point clearly is that they had pvp servers, couldn’t sustain it, and got war mode instead. This is a been there done that situation.

Warmode was made for pve people that went on pvp servers and didn’t like to pvp. It wasn’t made for pvpers or because pvp servers failed. Many servers were doing fine before they just decided to shard everything to pieces and put peacemode in the game.

WM was made to lower Blizzards overhead. No more, no less. Blizzard doesnt have a big track record of spending money like that on wpvp. If they were to say yes it wouldnt be anytime soon.

You have kept trying to push the cost many times without showing any proof that it was a reasonable argument with the way servers work anyway moreover without accepting that classic still have those. If they were not viable classic wouldn’t have pvp realms.

Wait, people are actually arguing one realm without Warmode or sharding would be a prohibitive cost for Blizzard?

:joy:

There is literally no difference in having wm on and a pvp server

World pvp was never good and the server would just be dead. They shouldn’t bother.

Everyone’s got an opinion, right? There are plenty of reasons people listed in this thread showing that war mode is not the same as a pvp server.

You are right. Warmode is factually better than a pvp server. I actually started playing on a pvp server since lvl 1 and while I enjoyed random encounters and big battles in the world, my faction is to this dsy outnumbered heavily so there were multiple moments where it was literally impossible to play. Warmode gives me the option to always be toggled and actually be agressive (I usually keep wm always on for this ret, my main) and switch on and off for my alts but having that option is just the best thing in the world.

so your answer to a faction imbalance is to break another aspect of the game. that seems healthy

Not at all.

Only that the statement to which I was responding was not absolute.

the only real reason why people are going into alliance now is the fact that they opened up the factions which by the way would mean this server makes absolutely no sense with the current way the game is going.

how about the fact they would have to have a seperate version of the game specifically for this one server since lets be honest how are they going to cross faction on a pvp server? doesnt exactly make since now does it.

It’s true though, outside of those mini-PvP World Quest zones, no world PvP.

In earlier versions, Horde and Alliance all had to walk down the same roads, so PvP was inevitable.

SoD Ashenvale is very unsafe.

Now? Just fly lol, clashes don’t happen anymore as a result.
