He also says it as if it doesn’t happen on PvP servers in a more exacerbated fashion. If your faction’s outnumbered, it stays outnumbered because players just stop signing on and the numbers just continue to snowball.
I remember when I made an Alliance character on the EU server Vek’Nilash back in the day. You couldn’t even fill the “/who”-thing with 50 players even when ALL filters were removed.
PvP realms back in the days were for all intent and purposes just PvE realms unless the realms crashed on a regular basis because they were that popular among both Horde and Alliance players. Having just one PvP realm would just mean that it turned into either an Alliance or a Horde dominated server and would either require sharding (which already makes it more like WM) to keep it more balanced, but it would still just swing one way or the other. And then one was back to it being effectively not a PvP server anymore.
PvP servers are a relic of when the game was worse off. So no, PvP servers aren’t good - not even for PvP:ers.
i would like to see a true pvp server, dungeons and raids disabled except for ones that bgs earned in WG and TB, then add all kinds of pvp rewards and update and add to every wpvp area like Halaa.
Right, that was part of the fun of it. Your alt gets ganked? Log on to your main and get back at him. It’s a competitive server which some people enjoy. I would join a pvp server and never leave. Even if imbalances happened. I would rather have that then play lame “war mode”
A dwindling playerbase is part of the reason warmode exists in the first place. So they could cross realm zone more, and more servers together. Wouldn’t work cross realm zoning pvp realms with pve ones. Because pve or normal realm players would have been auto flagged for pvp, or pvp players would have had pvp auto disabled. Not a big deal to me if they decided to make a pvp server like the days of old, but it again would divide a segment of the playerbase from each other which even though I’m not a fan of crz, it was what crz was supposed to help cure. Already bad enough with a number of dead realms this game has already even with crz. With classic, folks already have the option to play on a true pvp realm if they choose.
People on PVP serves do that all the time, its called “offline”.
Check Bene population, whare are all those horde players who “not able to go in and out of PVP”.
All “PVP loving” people, please answer honestly this to yourself,
if there was no extra gold and exp in WM, how much people would even have it on,
because I guarantee you that mine would come off immediately.
unless I’m doing some nonmilitary themed rp I leave mine on.
Logging off doesn’t allow you to still advance your character by playing in the PvE mode instead.
You want to be able to outnumber the opponet. Players cause imbalances. War mode is PVP. You already have it. PVP servers were OK for a short time on some servers before server transfers, back in vanilla. They don’t function now because players like you want to be 20 to 1.
I’m a fan of warmode because it allows me to play some form of WPVP while still playing the characters I want on the single connected server that the very few number of friends that still play actually play on even though there are flaws and warmode-population issues. However, that said, they should have never have removed the actual PVP aspect of the PVP servers. By the time that happened, it had been a long time since I had played on Cho’gall and Shattered Halls; however, I had a lot of fun on those when I did. I don’t know if I would play much if a new, consolidated PVP server was added—and I argue that 1 server is not sufficient: there has to be both a normal and an RP-PVP server because that would be where I would want to play now—but I certainly don’t feel that completely yanking away PVP servers was the correct solution: they and warmode on pve servers could have coexisted. I absolutely do not want to warmode go away but absolutely support a couple of new PVP servers (one non-RP and one RP-PVP).
Arguing against warmode is not really the way to go about this, IMO (not that everyone is): the points made should be on the positives of PVP servers and not the negatives of warmode. I think the devs would be more inclined to consider revisiting PVP servers if we could convince them of the positives.
Exactly. War mode and a pvp server can exist together. We aren’t asking for war mode to go away, we just simply want a server for us. For players who pvp every day and miss how world pvp used to be.
It would only work if balance is forced.
If horde, and want to log in, but too many horde alreaady, you should be forced to join alliance and vise versa.
Players are always looking for the dominant side like a bunch of pansies.
Players cause no balance.
20 versus 1 is not fun.
Another reason why War Mode is and would be superior to a ‘balanced’ PvP server: if a PvP server is imbalanced, you can’t create/log on to the character you want to play. If a server’s War Mode population is imbalanced, you just couldn’t activate War Mode, you can still play the game, queue for instanced PvP, etc.
And devs, if you happen to read this (unlikely), war mode is fine. That doesn’t have to change. But it would be a positive experience for pvp players to have access to a pvp server. Keep us engaged and happy with world pvp and playing with like minded players.
Agreed!
A single PvP realm would be a really simple addition that would show PvP players that Blizzard still cares about PvP. And ostensibly it would require very little actual development.
Look at how much interest this thread has generated. It’s an easy win Blizz! Let the zuggers zug zug!
Your PVP server will be one sided in a month, what next then?
How do we get bliz to listen?
They dont need to listen, you dont want PVP, you want gank low levels 20 to 1.
Emerald Dream wasn’t one sided for over a decade. It was a balanced realm. It worked on Emerald Dream forever.
Don’t join if you don’t like the idea. This thread isn’t for you.
