If they do "Tinkerer" at all, it should be a Hunter Tree

You’re asking for a different game. Warcraft has always had steampunk type tech at the core of its lore.

I literally just said that is great.

Yeah but “well it happened in 2008” is picking arbitrary lines. It was bad then, it’s become worse since.

Honestly, I gotta disagree. Tech is super prevalent in the Warcraft universe with tons of examples in this thread already being given.

But storywise and in representation from actual playable classes, it always takes a backseat to martial and magical abilities.

Like we’ve got 12 classes in the game, and not a single one uses technology in any meaningful way. The closest we’ve got is Engineering, but that’s had it’s potential neutered over the years for balance reasons and now primarily exists for quality of life gadgets like mailboxes and goblin gliders.

I dont want a class that uses Interplanetary Travel.
I want a class that uses Missiles, Guns, Bombs, Turrets, and Mechs.

You know, the stuff we see goblins and gnomes use all the time… But we can’t do ourselves.

Bingo. It’s absurd.

If you see Thrall and think he’s cool, you can play as a Shaman
If you see Turalyon and think he’s cool. you can play as a Paladin.
If you see Garrosh and think he’s cool. you can play as a Warrior.

But what about Gelbin Mechatorque, or Gazlowe?
“Eh, just play hunter I guess”

Another Thundahstahm Sunday thread posted on the wrong day. You’ll get it right one day, buddy. We’re all rooting for you.

You don’t have to like my posts. But you don’t need to come in here and attack me for disagreeing. Don’t be like that.

Yeah, no. That’s not even close to what people have been theory crafting Tinker to be.

Tinker is not “Survival Hunter with extra stuff”. It’s literally capable of being its own class with a tank, heal, and DPS spec.

That is one spec you are talking about. A Tinker can be healer, tank (where they are in a mecha suit), or dps. Dps can be lasers and other cool things. Heals would use a lot of cool things.

I get why you brought this up but I seriously doubt the first class people think of when they hear tinker is hunter. Huge difference than a Necro vs DK/Lock comparison.

I’m not a Tinkerer die-hard, so maybe I’ve missed this, but is there any indication that the in-game mech heals?

This three-spec concept is fan fiction, no?

Yeah I guess I’m thinking more along the lines of a Boba Fett style bounty hunter. I can understand why a I<3Mechtorque crowd wouldn’t like it. But assuming the choice is Spec or nothing, I assume people would take this? Just a guess.

Warhammer is one of the most popular tabletop games around and it uses technology HEAVILY in a fantasy setting with humans, dwarves, orcs, and swords.

WoW would be in a bad place by stealing a little bit of that idea and making it their own.

Isn’t the whole game a Warhammer swipe?

You have a controversial opinion that you posted to a public forums and people are going to disagree and tell you that.
If you don’t like arguing don’t put your opinion out there for debate.
No body is criticizing you as a person, just that your explanation for your opinions don’t follow what is actually in the game.

So him posting that this is “Another Thundahstahm Sunday Thread on the wrong day” isn’t attacking me as a person?

one post of a hundred doesn’t mean we all are attacking you
and that isn’t even a real insult

Yeah, there’s a bunch of cool things that tinkers can do and the closest players can get to doing that is an extremely watered down version in Engineering.

Personally I love the idea of having a healer who actually you know, has to heal people. Not just kinda wave their hands around as their cosmic or elemental sugar daddy gives them some healing juice.

Give them some of Engineerings older tools (obviously souped up a bit) like force fields or bandage guns so they can heal from range.

There’s a lot that can be done with a tinker and the closest overlap to any other class in the game is that ONE class would also use guns.

Warcraft is literally a knockoff Warhammer since they couldn’t get the rights to make an actual Warhammer game.

Obviously

There’s been a dozen or more threads about it, every couple of weeks. As a regular, I’m surprised you didn’t see at least one of them.

No one said it had to be the mech doing the healing. Remember back in Legion there was a quest where you had to make a “bandage gun”?

Sure, it was a silly quest, but the precedent is there for some sort of “engineered healing device”. I’ve suggested nano-bots myself, but even as far back as Wrath, I believe there have been little bots that walked around and healed MOBs. (Might have been in a raid like Ulduar or something).

“Healing by device” rather than some sort of magic is DEFINITELY in the game already.

Yes, but I replied to him with that post. I didn’t say everyone was attacking me.

Gaping plotholes open up whenever we acknowledge the techy aspects of the franchise outside of comic relief. Which is precisely why we should never get Tinker as a class.

In game. There are Tinker Island Expedition teams, They have a healer who shoots their allies with Healing bolts, and deploy healing bots.
They could go full Overwatch with it, Shooting Allies to heal them and throwing healing grenades.

What plot holes would open up in specificity. How does the plot fall apart?

It’s not an attack. Like I said, we’re all rooting for you. These bait threads are pure gold with how silly they are.
