If there were 4 classes for each armor type

What would they be? This is purely for funsies and not a serious thread. But it would be cool if each type had its own hero class.

Cloth

  • mage
  • priest
  • warlock
  • necromancer

Leather

  • rogue
  • druid
  • monk
  • demon hunter

Mail

  • hunter
  • shaman
  • ranger
  • dragon knight

Plate

  • warrior
  • paladin
  • tinker
  • death knight

I think a dragon knight would be pretty cool. I don’t really care if it’s a “hero” class or not.

Why would tinker be plate, they’ll be riding in Armored mechs its just excess weight. They would be cloth.

Maybe tinker would be wearing power (iron man) armor, that would count as plate.

lol, no. All in-game tinkers were mail or plate. They wear METAL.

I like Necromancer for Cloth, would love to have something like GW2 does when it comes to Necromancers. Though like Demon Hunters, they’d probably steal a lot of abilities from other classes already.

Tinker though would probably be mail if anything, or even leather (though we already have 4 leather classes).

Another though for mail, would be a Cleric. Ranged healer using a crossbow, or a melee spec with a mace and shield. Classic D&D style.

As for plate, the only extra class I can think of would be an Arcane Warrior. Similar to a Paladin I guess, but without the healing and holy spells. It would be Arcane instead with magic to buff and damage.

Why not make something new? Leather is boring, plate is boring, mail and cloth is borin.

How about CLAY? Run around in runed enchanted clay, able to be like ditto and copy any mog we wanted!:sunglasses: the class it’ll be tied too will be called, departed voiced by JACK Nicholson himself. You start off nakey with a club, you must go around near rivers and collect mud, then start making clay!

Cloth:
Blademaster, priest, mage, warlock

Leather:
Rogue, monk, druid, demon hunter

Mail:
Hunter, shaman, lancer, gunner(no bows, no elves)

Plate:
Paladin, warrior, death knight, tinker

The ranger could easily have a healing spec that would play like Tyrande: a hybrid of hunter, druid and priest.

Honestly they should just delete Mail Armor. Toss most of the non-class set appearances into Plate, since it’s closest. Class sets and lookalikes follow the class to its new armor type.

Right now, only Hunters and Shamans use it. Hunters should want to be able to move silently in the wilderness. Mail hinders that. Shamans could use whatever, but have very naturalistic roots and therefore make more sense as Cloth or Leather.

On top of those 2 classes having better fits elsewhere, Mail, specifically chainmail, is supposed to be cheaper than plate and decent protection against slashing attacks. WoW doesn’t really worry itself over that sort of combat/economic minutia, so it doesn’t really have a place here.

So…

Cloth:
Mage
Priest
Warlock
Shaman (running with the modern Thrall version here)
Monk (this would have made more sense from the start anyway)

Leather:
Rogue
Druid
Demon Hunter
Hunter (Bows only*. Existing guns unusable and mailed equivalent bow)
Gunslinger (Guns only*. Heavy focus on different types of ammo)
* Both Hunters and Gunslingers can make use of Crossbows

Plate:
Warrior
Paladin
Death Knight
Lancer (Polearms + 2H Swords only. 10yd melee range. No FFXIV Dragoon stuff)
??? (5th Plate Class, for gearing balance – not fond of Tinker/Engineer)

True, when I saw Ranger up there I thought they meant Dark Ranger like some seem to be clamoring for lately.

Since powerful dragonkin are able to take on any mortal form the knight would be available to all races. Even though your outer appearance is that of a mortal, you are actually one of Wrathion’s agents. A powerful chromatic draconid capable of harnessing the power of all dragon flights. You are sent to meddle in the politics of the Horde and Alliance all throughout Legion and BFA, where we see Wrathion’s hidden involvement in many of the events that transpired during the story that allowed him to resume and perfect his father’s work on chromatic dragons.

Specs:
Chronomancer

  • A mail-armored healer focused around harnessing the magic of the Bronze flight to hasten allies, slow enemies, revert damage, phase through attacks, reset cooldowns, double attack, blink backwards in time, and glimpse into the future to gain deeper insight in battle.

Sorcerer

  • A hulking battle mage imbued with the power of the Blue flight. With sword and shield, the draconic sorcerer charges into melee with enchanted blade and shield. Only the ogre magi of the Old Horde would have stood toe to toe with them as both were paragons of brute strength who demonstrated mastery over Titanic magics.

Flamewaker

  • Gifted with Alexstrazsa’s flame, the Flamewakers are fiery tanks who possess immense dragonic strength allowing them to wield a 2 handed weapon and shield. They dish out tail swipes, deep breaths, and mighty cleaves while causing enemies to run in fear. They leave a fiery wake increasing movement speed and their dragon armor sears the armor and weapons of their foes.

Dreamweaver

  • The Dreamweavers are mystical casters and masters of the natural cycle, able to poison and plague their enemies, while sending swarms of insects and nightmarish amalgamations to torment their foes. Their powerful leech allows the Dreamweaver to heal allies while dealing damage.

Ranger and Dragon knight are dumb classes.

Tinkerer would be mail or cloth.

Mekkatorque is wearing heavy armor. Makes sense Tinkers would fashion themselves heavy armor a-la a mech suit.

Theoretically speaking the mech can just be a second health bar with stats on it’s own.

And plate could just be a tank spec.

I can’t agree on getting rid of mail. We lost so many transmogs with the removal of plate classes using mail, when they converted a lot of the mail armor to plate. If they get rid of mail completely, a lot of my favorite mogs and armor sets will disappear into plate instead of going to leather.

And Hunters only being allowed to use bows? That would ruin my whole Engineer Hunter persona! No Engineer wants to use a flimsy bow when they can craft the power of a gun.

Agreed. Hunters should keep mail. I think that there is room for a hunter fourth spec which would be a hunter melee tank that uses avoidance and a spirit link with the pet to mitigate damage. Could be amazing. Savagery / Savagekin / Wildling / Wildkin something along those lines. Imagine tanking a raid boss with your pet by your side. Hunters need mail.

Plate would be battle mage imo.

Tinker maybe mail?
I like dragon knight or dragoon as other mail (lets see some more gear like t2 hunter) maybe if we see a dragon isle expansion?

Clothie I guess necromancer, or some kind of spell blade character. I’d love to see a kind of mid range class that has something in effect to a permanent runic weapon, using that to attack and embue with some spells thrown in.

I’d also really like a wind caster similar to Ivan from Golden Sun, but that is more a Mage variety than anything else.

I think that should be called nightmare-weaver instead.

True! I just felt like any dream magic should have a nightmarish twang since the dream is corrupted. Not too up to date on the lore there.
