If there are no bans or end to layer exploit, I’m out

Hence…

Fix the layering exploit with w/e tools Blizz mentioned they “could” use if they needed to.

Make sure the Raid XP bug is fixed…

Create new servers w/o the possibility of moving any characters or gear to ever.

There’s an infamous screenshot circulating that’s obviously photo shopped and I’m not aware of any other screenshots. But it doesn’t take screenshots to show this is a huge problem. We’ve all seen the /layer me in every channel and the follow up comments like, Sweet! 15 mithril! Thanks everyone!

People hop for chests, they hop for rares, they hop for resource nodes, they hop to AOE grind the sweet spots. This is the antithesis of an authentic Vanilla experience. Blizzard didn’t have to do this but they did because they can’t help but screw up their own games.

What bugs?

Blizzard says it’s not being abused. It’s not that people are against, it’s that it’s a falsehood.

Does anyone have proof that this is going on en mass?

Blizzard is against it. The Blue post referred to it as exploitation and that they were working to fix that. I’m not sure how people can read that post as endorsement of layer hopping. They very clearly don’t approve or else they would have just said “working as intended” and “no changes needed.”

Not sure if you guys read fourms on here but blizz all ready mentioned in blue post that they are keeping close eye on it. Plus they are removing layering in one of the content updates. Just hang in there.

Layering was a really hard pill to swallow for me, but it really was the lesser of two evils.

Wrong. Opening a bunch of un-layered servers and having server merges at a later date was by far the lesser of two evils.

Eh … not a big deal to me. I think benefits of layering have outweighed some dudes getting a few extra mithril per node because they’d rather cheat than play the game as it was intended. Sure, Blizzard probably should have inserted a longer mandatory timer between layer switching, but whatever.

Sorry that some people are letting this bother them but seems like a waste of energy to me. We’re down to single digit layers already so they’ll probably be gone entirely within the next month or so.

It matters. It matters because it’s made the idea of an authentic experience a freaking joke. It matters when I DC and log back on to a different layer and get stomped by the pack of mobs I just cleared. It matters when I’m running to farm a node with no one around and someone pops on it. It matters when I can’t sell the items that normally make a little profit while leveling up because the AH is flooded.

It should be a big deal to anyone who cares about the game because it IS a big deal. It’s unauthentic, it’s unnecessary and it’s garbage.

Didnt readthrough all 88 posts…but another aspect to layering…WPVP!!!

I have seen if both ways.

My crew tears them up and hunts them down.
They layer away from us.

They tear us up and hunt them down.
I have see people ask for invites to get layered away to get away from camping.

No, I don’t think it should be a big deal because it isn’t. Sorry, but I think, like many others, you’re greatly exaggerating the side effects of layering. And given that it’ll be gone before too long, I don’t see the point in grousing over it. I mean, don’t let me stop you if you want to get upset over it, but I think you’re wasting time and energy that could be put towards enjoying the game.

Don’t forget to vendor your gear and trade some random player all your gold before you delete your character. It’s just the nice thing to do.

Blizzard blue post legit states that this exploit isnt effecting the economy like you and others claim…

Sure, jumping layers to avoid fights or chase quest mobs might be an issue but effecting the economy? I dont think so.

Oh man I forgot about that. Talk about terrible QA.

easy to blame “Layering” for the issue with the economy. The issue for that is the game is new and Gold hasn’t been created for prices to stagnant and change yet Blizzard has confirmed that there isn’t the issue with Layering people where saying. That was just clickbaiting and fear mongering. If you wish to unsub thats your decision but I believe alot of your stance is built on an ignorant point where you think that players are able to gain 2-10X leveing experience by jumping layers when Blizz said they have kept a keen eye on this. I would recommend instead of only reading forums and watching youtubers/streamers for information to play the game at your own pace and enjoy Classic for what it is. This is a passion project meant to bring a representation of a 15 year old game where everyone already knows what to do.

Reading comprehension. I would like you to quote me where they said it “isn’t effecting the economy.” They legitimately said they are monitoring the effect it is having on the economy. How can you monitor something that doesn’t exist. The fact that they are monitoring it means that there is an effect on the economy. The question is to what degree. Is it a lot or is is bit or is it negligible? What they said is that “many” (not all) of the stories were innaccurate. The screenshot of the arcane crystals was a fake.

They said it was a “smaller problem” than people were making it out to be. Does your reading comprehension allow you to take in all the meaning of that phrase? When they say something is a “smaller problem” than people were making it out to be, it is not that they don’t think it’s a problem, but that they don’t agree with the degree to which it is a problem. The phrase they use indicates that they DO think it is a problem. Their only disagreement is that it is not as big of a problem as we were led to believe with people having bags of stacks of arcane crystals and lotuses.

Let me present to you two scenarios:

  1. a person abuses layering and has 3 times as many arcane crystals and lotuses as he would have been able to get without layering.

  2. a person abuses layering and has bags of stacks of arcane crystals and black lotuses.

1 and 2 are both problems. I can say that if we determine that 1 is the accurate description of what is going on, I can definitely say that 1 is a “smaller problem” than 2. Clearly, 1 is still a problem, but it is a “smaller problem” than 2 which is game breaking. 1 is still a problem. 1 is a player exploiting game mechanics to gain an advantage over other players which is indeed against the TOS. The fact that the Blue post referred to this as the layering being “exploitable” means they too see it as an exploit.

Within the first couple sentences you should be able to see that they have seen how it is being exploited and agree that it is a problem such that they agree there needs to be a cool down on how often players can switch layers. If it wasn’t a problem, they would agree to make a change to make it more difficult to abuse.

Arcanite Crystal screenshot was faked, btw

I have been corrected on the number of layers and was wrong. Although, we were operating in an information vacuum, so I’ll excuse myself. But the allegations were so weighty in their potential impact on the game, that it required a strong response to get Blizzard to act, especially when trust in them is not at an all time high, for sure.

It’s still an issue and they agree since they are going to adjust the delay to make it hard to exploit. It’s just not providing as pronounced of an advantage as we previously thought. It is, however, still providing an advantage and is still an exploit and I wish they would take disciplinary action against the exploiters. It’s no longer a gaping hole in the game, but rather a pretty decent dent.

These are my absolute favorite posts. The declarative “X is a failure, Y should have been done” assertions. Why? Because you just know, in an alternative universe where Blizzard didn’t do layering and made as many bare servers as needed to accommodate, there’s an identical post from Velquez that reads “Mass server creation has been an absolute failure. Using layers would’ve been better.”. It just makes me giggle. Because if you don’t laugh at the absurdity of the contrarians like this who just get excited about being mad, you’ll go insane.

The guild that got world rag first.

Just today in sodas stream he was asking viewers to invite him in order to jump layers and farm resources. When called out on it he said, “I don’t like layering but if it is in the game I am going to abuse it.”
