In the files, there are two “dragon hybrids” in particular I feel not only have that more “traditional Warcraft” look, but I think would also GREATLY improve the sense of players looking unique. After all, even in the few clips I’ve seen, Dracthyr players running around look COMPLETELY interchangeable aside from color.
Here are the two models in particular that jump out (unarmored and armored):
Now obviously, these aren’t just “no work” to implement. The second one would certainly be LESS work, as it clearly uses the Worgen model, so most of the animations should be set. And presumably throw some wings on them, since Evokers use them a fair bit.
I feel like either (or both) of these options would solve the lion’s share of issues, which is the Dracthyr FEEL like they’re half-baked. They don’t get the usual male/female body types, their body is super feminine and not very “Warcraft-y”, they’re humanoid and yet for some reason, cannot wear armor?
Honestly though, that first model looks SICK and is honestly EXACTLY what I have been hoping for from the Dracthyr. I might give them just one more finger on each hand (I don’t know why, two fingers just looks weird to me), but I would honestly play those dudes in a HEARTBEAT.
Beyond that, I will honestly say I REALLY do love the volume of colors and patterns present in the existing Dracthyr. If those could be migrated to that first body-type linked, I would be absolutely over the moon.
I would personally suggest, however, that at the very least for THIS expansion, consider making their “Tier-sets” unlockable in the Barbershop somehow. Maybe as a reward for collecting the full set? Or just clearing every boss in the raid at that level? Cool-looking armor has always been a big part of the reward from raiding, so it would be a bummer for Evokers to miss out entirely on that.
