A toon I haven’t actually played in like 4/3 weeks. (last day was the first day of the arena season) That’s totally my main. lol

Well, looking over your characters and their item levels with the highest not being played in 3-4 weeks it seems you play the forum more than you play the game.

I want to get this out there though, I agree with you and fading that skill will trump gear in a lot of cases I just hate when people use the term skill as a blanket “you’ll always win if you’re better” when that’s just not the case through just sheer game design. The class you are and the class you fight play a huge role in just how much more skilled you need to be than your opponent. Lots of classes right now can just unload a dumptruck of damage onto someone with incredible ease and no amount of skill will overcome lucky split second crits for 60% of your hp.

After giving this some thought in regards to gearing. PvP and PvE is about “GOLD” Top Mythic guild farmed 500 Mil gold to pay players to join split runs that could trade gear. 1 mil a person if for weapons.
Just bought a BiS ring today 280k snagged it off Auction was 400k. This ring drastically changes my gameplay. Couple weeks ago bought my chest. BoE are really important now and having enough currency to Buy or Trade is how you get geared in PvE or PvP.
Gold wins. If you have enough you can do anything and any content. Literally. So this expansion I am taking professions more seriously because Gold wins. PvE players can buy or trade carries in PvP and vice versa. PvP players ask for Raid gear and it all cost Gooooooooooold.
Besides that I do love gear progression but I don’t like the Gold wins model. I do think we should attain power and gear first then build skills around that gear. PvP in WoW should always be a 2 step process. Kinda a weird time though in WoW.
I really feel like I wasn’t trying to create a blanket statement.
A single ring changes your gameplay? Maybe we should start calling you Abombdachump cause someone slipped you some snake oil with that ring.

All good, this thread is way larger than it should be.
Stats are everything and make your build…Literally. Have to hit certain breakpoints and yes getting a BiS Mastery ring, socket changes a lot. Adding sockets changes a lot. Not sure how you don’t think it does.
Think I got the ring though because of was laying in bed dreaming about it. Then it was listed at a price I could snag it at. Very exciting. Made my day!!
