You are taking things out of context, typical.
His ilvl isn’t even considered competitive. Did not you not get that from the 175/170 ilvl with no leggo?
Trying to explain these things with someone who doesn’t PVP competitively is very difficult.
But you can blame gear for the reason why you aren’t excelling like the rest who are struggling with skill issues.
I mean I told you the conversation isn’t going to be productive until you provide evidence.

This guy is a tournament level player, so I would consider him to be pretty competitive with his game.
If he’s telling me gear matters, I’m inclined to believe him. 
Never said gear didn’t matter, but nice way to twist things.
If you were watching his stream was he not numerously beating teams with high ilevels? Did you see his opponents health?
Skill > Gear
Just because he states gear matters, which obviously it does, doesn’t mean it’s the determining factor for winning. Your argument is proven wrong simply by him winning.
What do arena achievements have to do with BGs? They demonstrate skill in an isolated fight but BGs are more about being in the right place at the right time and actually knowing when to avoid fights (for one thing).

So, you would say the duelist level player I killed the other day with 25K health on their monk with my 30+K fury warrior lost because I had more skill than them rather than gear?
1v1’s mean nothing.
This is the BG forum, not the arena forum. 1v1s happen quite often at objectives and they also happen in arena when team mates die.
And if that is what you think, then why all these references to individual skill? I mean, if it isn’t a 1v1 then the skill of the other people with you and against you matter, right?

You can’t say you simply won due to the gear gap. There is no evidence. He could not be skillful with monk, he could have made a human error, or it could simply be an imbalance in class balance.
You can’t prove why you won. Only fact that exists is that you did win.
I won because I was chunking their health and they made some mistakes (didn’t use cooldowns that were up that could have helped them).
Here is a clip of Tosan (R1 player) lacking some basic game knowledge if interested. He’s a great arena player though.

It’s more “gear+skill” > “skill alone” that is the problem, IMO.
Also, inexperienced players dying in under two seconds isn’t going to give them room to improve or encourage them to try. But, that has more to do with cooldowns+covenant+(gear).
My arguement has been against the people who say games are predetermined, and that you CANT win because of gear.
That shieldbash person has literally numerously stated that it’s not possible to win simply because of gear.
I’ve never once said that gear isn’t a factor in winning. Fading would be doing even better if he had real gear.
Even that Tupac person I was arguing with said quite a few times that skill doesn’t matter in today’s pvp. It’s simply not true, and experienced/skilled players can win even with the gear gap.
