If you’re so upset about the WoW token or RDF then speak with your wallet and cancel your subscription. The only time a big corporation listens to their consumer is when the consumers stop giving them money. What you as the consumer wants is irrelevant, if you just keep giving them money.
Sad part is that the metrics for token sales will go up even if every non-bot player never bought one, because the bots and sellers will buy them.
Hopefully engagement in Wrath classic drops off noticeably more in favor of HC or retail, though I doubt anyone at blizzard would care enough to react to it.
We all just want a baseline good experience when playing and having devs that constantly lie/refuse to improve doesn’t help create that experience.
Lul they will make 10X the money from the Token than people quitting LUL.
A huge metric that investors look at is consumer engagement. It’s not all about the current profits, but also the potential of future profits.
Just waiting for cata to do so. And I am def not alone with that
Its toc, its summer and they do this. Someone really want to free up some server space.
That’s why they did this before HC servers.
Get all those subs right back.
Its funny they will spend time and resources to push out classic HC servers, but by the time they are actually released most of the hype will have died off.
I am speaking with my wallet and I will be purchasing several tokens.
Bro, i spent so much on tokens today that if the rest of the playerbase quits tomorrow blizzard will still have profits for the next 3 years.
They actually want you back in Retail anyways. All those Transmog ‘ensembles’ that can be sold on the store, mounts, pets, wide-array of account services.
Plus, they can shut down the Classic team; shuffle some…layoff the rest.
I suspect the reason we got the Token is because Classic is about to be shuttered. Most of the ‘classic only’ players have probably left, and the ones left still play Retail. So, this is a ‘last gasp’ by the team to keep their jobs (who wants to play roulette that they won’t be one of the layoffs).
Plus, I wouldn’t be surprised if, overall, Activision’s financials aren’t looking all that great. Sure, more money coming in, but if MAUs are tanking…anyone with even a hint of investment knowledge knows to stay away from something that’s losing customers.
…and with the MS acquisition loaming. The suits probably don’t want MS to rethink or renegotiate.
I wouldn’t bank to hard on this as new era HC realms are slated for release last I heard.
Era is surprisingly popping with HC. Lot’s more active than on wrath leveling.
I think it is past this point in the process and just getting approval from other countries regulatory commissions weighing in now.
Not defending them by addressing your points, I am watching this small dumpster fire become a bonfire rapidly. I just don’t think shuttering classic(especially era) is going to happen soon if at all.
It’s about the MAUs and subs. How many HCers and ERAers also play Retail. Why keep this other service, which makes no extra money on its own (ie Sub and Cash shop), when you can nudge them over to the other ‘monetized’ product they already play.
Not entirely accurate. How many players are from YOUR server? Last time I was on Pagle-era, there wasn’t a single person in chat or SW that had " - Pagle".
Arthas-US (Retail) was my old server. It would appear populated too. Until you notice maybe once a day you’d see another " - Arthas" in chat. Same with Stormrage-US (Retail).
Cross-realm does much to hide the dwindling player population in both games.
Well, the ~$69 (ahhyeee) Billion deal was based around MAUs and Financials. That, if changed greatly, would necessitate at the very least a reevaluation of the price tag.
…like. They legally have to. Because if it comes out they went through with the purchase even though the valuation of the company (Activision-Blizzard) had tanked. The MS shareholders would sue the MS Board into oblivion for failing to ‘work in the interest of the shareholders’.
((I see it all the time with mergers. 9/10, at least one shareholder will sue saying care wasn’t taken; that the price wasn’t high enough (being bought up) or the price was too high for the value of the company (being bought). It’s like: “May 23, 2023, Company XYZ completes acquisition of Company ABC.” | “May 30, 2023, Legal Firm 123 represents Shareholders of XYZ.” - TD Ameritrade’s new feed on those two companies))
HoTS and OW2 PVE salute your faith.
((I’m aware HoTS is still around. But it’s clearly been put on life support. and OW2’s PVE will probably be something like WoW’s RDF; drop in, do a mission, leave.))
They announced it was in maintenance mode a year or so ago.
for OW2 it’s simple, they just never worked on the PVE and based on how they’re having to just ship incomplete projects due to staffing I just don’t think there was any tangible dev work done on it.
Era is set and forget, all of classic should have been.
uh, on BSB for HC? pretty much all I see is same server. On my Wrath realm? same thing.
you have your own views on the unknown goings on and that’s fine, I just disagree with some of your finer points.
I am.
I just wish I could buy ten at a time.
You can speak with your wallet by not buying a token.
Bots will over inflate the amount purchased and their metrics will tell them the token in classic was a success.
You first, I bought enough tokens to cover your sub for them at least up to Cata. Enjoy the sun.
Lol I havent paid for WoW since prepatch of Wotlk. I personally left cause of the dungeon changes. But hey if you want to spend your REAL money on an imaginary currency to help Blizzard “solve” their problems instead of expecting Blizzard to solve their own problems, I fully support your decision
It was already trending this way, now maybe we can finally get the Classic+ we wanted and simultaneously get the micro trans infested time locked progression servers for cata/MoP like people have been asking for.
