Well, this was sold as the World of Soul saga, and TWW’s story feels completely disjointed and seemingly with cut content.
And today’s cinematics seem like they’re trying to make a Disney+Marvel combination. It’s a good story, but with poor direction and quality, and the game features look very poor (the only exception being the housing).
If Metzen has parted ways with Blizzard, just say so.

If you have some hard proof of this besides hearsay go on. But if this is just “I heard from a friend who heard from a friend”, lets not go down that rabbit hole. I played “Telephone” in Kindergarten and I know how that goes. I’ll give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt until I have a reason not to.
I wouldnt be surprised if he departs from blizzard sometime during midnight, unless he just wants to collect free cash for doing nothing, which at that point I cant blame him for that.
Chris said himself things are decided by a council of sorts, not a stretch to assume none of his ideas are being used, I can already picture in my head how those meetings go and what type of people are voting against his ideas.

I get your point, but my friend, this will be BIG NEWS for you but… Metzen is a BIG fan of Marvel/DC since 2004. i mean Go’El, Kal’El… doesnt ring a bell ?
His stories have always being small rip offs from other stories, he has some good stuff no doubt on that, but others are err… the reason why the OG lore of Overwatch got scrapped is because it was basically a rip off from some Marvel comics, it was waaaay too similar-

If that were true, and I doubt it is. I think a full disclosure of this being the case by Metzen would be merited. It would also galvanize players and the industry against all bad actors who veto everything on a basis of ideological reasoning.
Besides. Orgrim Doomhammer knows how to deal with such ‘councils’ better than anyone else I reckon.
I’ll just say it. Metzen coming back to Blizzard is what ruined TWW. Most of the xpac was already fleshed out before he joined. The reason it ended up feeling so disjointed was because the team had to make last-minute changes to make everything flow into the “trilogy.”
There were legimately good story beats in TWW. Azj’kahet and the nerubians, Beledar, etc. were set up in a great way and had massive potential for further development in later patches. But it was all ruined by Metzen coming in and stealing the show.
And now with this lackluster Midnight announcement, I don’t have much hope for where this “trilogy” is going.
I heard Metzen quit because they didn’t put Metzen in the reindeer in the Midnight trailer. True story, and 100% as credible as anything else said in this thread.
Both TWW and the Cinematic are completely Metzen’s style. I swear he grew up on HP Lovecraft and Marvel Comics. Going to K’aresh is definitely the cosmic storytelling that he has preferred ever since the Dark Portal was created.
Has Metzen made any appearances, interviews or anything since his last Blizzcon appearance? I don’t want to say that he’s not working with them but if that’s the only time he has said anything and nothing else since then, it feels a bit odd.

All these good indie games and older RPGs had like 3 people making the decisions. The AAA companies are allergic to anything indie does or anything from the 90s, they’re programmed and shunned against it.
I mean that’s been his MO for awhile it seems, he sells hype and quits when there is backlash.

You’re wrong, it’s the fact that the company has gone woke, and make their decisions based of majority rule which is a terrible and kills creativity and vision. Go watch Metzens recent interviews, they don’t agree with his vision so the game will continue on its lack luster path since korthia.
