If I started right now, boosting a DK or Lock (Haven’t decided yet) to 70 and leveling him to 80 and trying to gear as fast as I can, could I make it in time for ICC raiding?

ICC isn’t coming out for a bit then? I saw testing on PTR and freaked out…
My guess is ICC is gonna be live somewhere in October, so you have a whole month+ which is plenty of time to even start from level 55 as a DK and get to 80.
Good news…its CTA AV weekend.
Depending on your motivation levels and free time you could be 80 by Monday. With 75K honor banked to get basic deadly gear (weapons included) on the 80 ding.
Work some furious and relentless pieces in after if other gear options aren’t panning out at first. Id plug wintergrasp runs here for that.
Its not pve gear but it helps the gs to maybe increase chance of alpha runs with nicer folk.
I’d do this for the weapon(s) alone. Crafteds on AH like titan steel are worse stats, and can be pricey. Deadly weapons are literally 2 maybe 3 wg runs. And that is me being realistic. 1 of those 3 is a loss. maybe 2 even.

A lot of nice responses here, so I’ll do you a favor and talk about the reality of your situation.
TLDR: I wouldn’t.
If you’re okay with joining guilds that haven’t gone 50/50 TOGC, aren’t 54/54 Ulduar and have an excess of grey parsing monkeys, you can give it a go.
You’ll miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. That being said, I can’t tell you what’s enjoyable for you.
Set your expectations accordingly. WOTLKC is not 2008 WOTLK.
Good class choices though. I wouldn’t stray far from UHDK or Affliction. Leaning towards Affliction if I put myself in your shoes.

The PTR just started on Tuesday. Most Classic PTRs have been 4-6 weeks and this will be a very large patch so expect closer to the 6 weeks there.
Then after the PTR concludes there is usually a 2 week period before the actual release.

I’m not planning on buying anything besides a boost to just get up there. I just thought 1-2 months seemed like plenty of time to get a 70 boosted character to 80 and geared like people said above so I thought I’d wait. Am I wrong to wait?
Its merely a guess.
It really depends on what this means.
Is it possible to level and gear up to be ready for ICC within a week or two? Yes, absolutely.

Run em through cta av. I have one on whitemane I may stop by on starfield breaks here and there. My Whitemane needs an 80 sugar mommy to feed leveling alts (38 and 28).
Its not that I am not excited for starfield. Its more the gameplay will be finding things to make mods for.
So game play is more me with a pad and a pen to rough sketching mod ideas to make when we get creation kit. I look more forward to that release in a way really.
New game, ground level modding since it won’t have been done 20 times already…should be nice.
I’m not sure I understand the logic of waiting to start the process. Wouldn’t it make infinitely more sense to start now and give yourself as much time as possible so that you don’t have to no life all the fun out of it?
