If housing is successful (I do mean if)

If it was successful would people take shot at FF14 or maybe finally admit that World of Warcraft can make other game features even better?

My highest level on FF14 is level 17. I have tried 4 times the gcd is too long, too many story cutscenes, and not enough abilities to fight the boredom. I want to go further, but too many early gameplay makes it frustrating to continue.

I am also an altoholic, I have to play multiple characters, one wont do. I have 54 characters on WoW and 40 characters on ESO.

When housing goes live, where’s the party gonna be? Who’s hosting? Should I bring anything?

Not quite sure what you are asking.

If Blizzard delivers on housing as advertised, it will definitely put pressure on Square Enix to improve their housing system.

WoW already does many things better than other MMOs.

i felt that way when wow killed everquest but now i find myself missing everquest.
good thing everquest 3 is coming in 2028 to take revenge

wow hasnt been on its toes in a loooooong time. it should be interesting to see how they react after all these years of laziness.

You got like 11 levels further than me lol.

From what I’ve heard about housing on FF, it’s not something I would be interested in.

Really depends what housing in WoW is going to be like. I doubt it’s going to be “bEtTeR”, it will just be completely different. And whether it’s better or not will just depend on personal taste and needs.
Housing in FF14 is imo almost perfect to me - the only thing that really bothers people is the scarcity of houses, mainly bigger houses. WoW will certainly not have this problem, but then probably lack in other things like variety of furniture, the possibilities of the building process itself and a lack of custimization of gardens and fixtures (walls, floors etc.). At this point it’s also unclear if houses of other people will be freely accessible without group invites. If not, that will be a big downgrade.

I agree. I mean, sure you can do it all on one character, but the game provides a fair few races to play, so why would you stick to just one?

I tried it, I cant recall my level but it was probably around 12. I didn’t like the graphics (never been a fan of the Asian style), didnt like the game play, the endless talky scenes, the frustrating system that you had to try and figure out with little help, the constant barriers between relatively small zones…there were lots of other reasons but the one thing that really annoyed me was that I knew it was unlikely I would ever get a house. And loving player housing as I do, I found the difficulty of just getting one to be the last straw.

The best thing about FFXIV is the crafting system, something WoW tried to ape badly if they actually copied the crafting/gathering from XIV properly that would be great but whatever we currently have is just an overly confusing mess and basically pointless to interact with for any casual player.

You are assuming without even a smidgen of information on that part of it. Its like saying the raids in Midnight will be bad when we have no knowledge at all about the raiding in the next expansion. Why must you assume the worst?

(PS: the blue post mentions “hundreds and hundreds of decorations and house customizations”. And those numbers will undoubtedly increase over time.)

Again, assuming.

Frankly, I dont want strangers just walking into my house. I don’t know why anyone would find that pleasant. If you choose to be in a guild neighbourhood then I suspect it will be a lot easier to be visited by, and to visit, guild mates. In general hoods, its 50 strangers. You can make friends with them if you wish, you can almost certainly invite them in for a cuppa and a scone, but they will almost certainly opt in favour of privacy controls since the majority of people would probably prefer that.

So i play FF14 and WoW and here is the issue
FF14 is boring. The raids (ultimate raids and savage raids) are about as hard as wows LFR they are beyond easy.
There is nothing really to do in the game besides ERPing and most of that player base (which is a majority of their playerbase) are furries or underage looking creatures.
WoW offers a large pool of content for all skill levels and doesnt have as big of a ERPing scene .
So overall i would never suggest FF14 to people to play unless they want to try childs first MMO with weird ERPing (which btw if you say anything bad about the ERPers you get mass reported)

Holy cow, you’re not kidding. It is a real thing.

I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages, WoW is the better game overall because it doesn’t actually hate being an MMO, has much better gameplay and class identity and forces people to work together unlike XIV which seems to be more focused with their boring never ending MSQ singleplayer experience and making all content braindead easy but XIV does offer actual non combat oriented activities for players such as the actually engaging crafting/gathering, casino, housing, weekly fashion contest, ocean fishing and the island sanctuary.

WoW current crafting system is fine. It’s simpler than FFXIV’s but that isn’t a bad thing.

I don’t get what you find so confusing. There are just 3 stats and the higher your level, the higher the quality of your crafting.

I’ma be honest. I gave FF14 a try. First issue was the insanely obnoxious sign up process. I don’t remember what the issue was exactly as it was a while ago. But it was legit quite difficult to give them my money. I’m like…but why??? Then, when I finally did manage to get into the game after suffering through their horrendous account creation system, I found the game UI so absolutely terrible that I puked a bit in my mouth.

Sure the community might be better. But hot damn if the game’s interface and graphics are hot garbage. About the only thing FF14 has going for it is the vastly superior animations and polygon count. But the textures were something out of a PS2 game and very plasticy looking. It also seemed to suffer from a complete lack of graphical design cohesion. Like it was multiple games cobbled together. Whereas WOW has been consistent since 2004.

And yes, the FF14 in-game cash shop is waaaaaaaaayyyyy worse than anything WOW has ever done. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that is super gaslighting themselves.

its only better if you are apart of the ERPing scene and dont find it gross about their small race being used as not very good things.

I played FF14 a bit. I was sure I made a Paladin but I ended up being a glitter wizard fighting a dancing cactus.

They’re only “nicer” on the surface if you ever criticize the game in anyway they become extremely passive aggressive XIV community is the definition of ‘toxic positivity’.

“Everyone who doesn’t agree with me has a mental problem” isn’t how you automatically win arguments, sorry. How is it worse? It offers basically the same things as the shop in WoW, but has a lot of cheap and affordable stuff - and doesn’t sell gold.
