If Earthen can be shaman and paladins, why not dracs?

Unless it makes sense to give paladin to a new race… Like earthen.

And if a drac can be a lock pre stasis, then it makes sense to be sham pally n druid

Obviously. Money is power, champ! Time is money, money is power, time is power… goblin evoker should be cannon right now!

Every crippled creature in existence can be a warlock, man… they literally don’t use their own power… it’s just corruption.

But the thing is more about balance than lore, believe me…

By the way… I think orcs and humans should be able to become Demon Hunters. F$%k the lore, they would fit nicely with the design

Kul Tirans should be paladins way before anyone else. The Light is powerful enough to reach around them!

Yeah, sure. And any race that can be priest and war should be a paladin too.

This isn’t how that works because Priests only use the light they aren’t infused with it and Warriors don’t use light at all they just fight with zero magical abilities at all.

The honest answer is probably: one is a selling point of the new expansion, while the other isn’t.

We’ll see more races open up to Paladins and Shaman, but it’s not the priority at the moment.

Paladins are literally a fusion of priest and war.

Like that’s how the silver hand was created…

Yes there’s differences between all 3… And the way paladins and priests use light differ, but it began like that.

paladin is essentially a priest with martial expertise.

So yeah that’s the first prerequisite.

Second would be a source of faith/power to draw from.

For dracs pre stasis itd prob be neltharion and/or tyr.

Post stasis would prob just be tyr

That’s fine, I just wish they would communicate that, instead of Ion saying no without thought at a throwaway interview and contradicting themselves

He didn’t say no, he said that it will require lore fitting the classes and that some races would never make sense for certain classes with Mechagnome Druid being the example which still implied race/class expansion for Paladin, Druid and Shaman but also that not every race lacking them will get them so they won’t be universal classes for all.

Yeah no… If velves can be paladins (harbinger quest line) and LFD and maghar locks, then anyone can be anything absolutely

For Shamans: The Titans used their powers to imprison the elementals to their own realms, so Titan-ascended dragons (which is to say any except the Incarnates) are pretty much mortal enemies of the elements, or at least strained enough that they’re not going to work together in harmony as a Shaman does.

For Paladin: A paladin is basically a living conduit for divine power, devoting themselves entirely to it. Most invoke the Light, Zandalari invoke the Loa, and Earthen invoke the Titans and their Order magic. The Dracthyr however were created as tools of war directly for Nelthation, and were entirely devoted to him even if largely because of the Titan artifact he used to control them, and he just doesn’t exactly have the kind of divine power that someone else could channel.

Conversely, priests are sort of broadly categorized as anyone who can wield the light or void and use its powers, and worshipping it isn’t a strict necessity. Dracthyr were trained to wield those powers, but only for practical means of war rather than as a fulfillment of faith. That light and void don’t necessarily require faith is why we occasionally have evil beings that can wield the light and good people that can wield the void.

Paladins are LITERALLY militarized priests…

Dracs out their faith on Nelly…

Lore is meaningless when they had warlocks 10k years before the war of the ancients

The arathi and Scarlets and light bound all have evil paladins

Nel didn’t have to be a being of light, they just needed to channel their faith of him to have light.

Look at how zanda trolls have paladins by having faith in the loa

Their war was against the incarnates, not the elements… The elements are a part of the planet… You can’t love the planet but hate the elemnts

Dracthyr didn’t have faith, they were effectively mind controlled. As soon as Neltharion lost that control, he imprisoned them.

They got their training directly from Neltharion, who would have likely been privy to knowledge of demons from his delving into the Void, and perhaps even from Tyr. As Emberthal states when making a Warlock “You have learned to call in beings and powers from beyond Azeroth. Our creator was also well versed in the dark arts. Do not fall as he did.”

The Titans never interacted with the incarnates or even the dragons directly. During the days of the Black Empire, the elements ran free and chaotically on Azeroth. The Titans banished them to their elemental planes. So the dragon Aspects, having accepted the gift of the Titans, would also not be on good terms with elementals. Especially the artificial creations of one of them.

They weren’t M/C 24/7… Just in combat. They completely revered Deathwing, come on now… He was their literally creator and god. Look how butt hurt sarkareth was for being abandoned

If ANYTHJNG being M/C would enforce you faith, not remove it. Doubt the light cares if you’re mced or not, just that you have faith

Okay fair enough, if you can mold it that way you can mold it for the missing classes…

Again, I’m sure there’s something that can be created to justify if you justify locks pre WotA.

Maybe they negotiated with the elements for temporary freedom from the planes for power.

You forget the lore for belf paladins pre sunwell? All it takes is two sentences of lore…

Also LFD and maghar locks…

Then you don’t think he would have gotten paladin training for his soldiers via Tyr then…
