Then I’m not buying it. Simple as that.
Then you’re not buying it.
It’s pretty simple, you either get 20 years of existing spell rank X+1 or you get patch and expansion specific progression systems.
You can’t have these progression systems all active. Legion artifact, neck powers corruption and everything else under the sun… It would be a never ending flood of exploits.
There are aspects of these patch specific progression systems that are problematic. But that’s more a function of them getting gated to the length of the tier then any specific system design.
Legion did borrowed power right, in my opinion. They have just taken the worst aspects of that system and somehow made them worse in every single way since.
Flying at launch or I’m not keeping my sub after the main story quest
Aspect Power
But the borrowed power will be the ability to fly on dragonwings without a mount, turn into a dragon for limited time with hour long cooldown, and use dragon breath of your chosen Flight. Black and Red both breathe fire, sorry no unique ones for you!
Cypher level ranks are definitely the testing phase of the next Borrowed Power growth system.
I’ll take the first option then. WoW was better with the classes changing incrementally between Vanilla and MoP. WoD gutting the classes to make room for what they did in Legion is the moment where most of the classes became broken. To this day, many still aren’t really fixed.
They should’ve built on top of Legion’s system instead of just getting rid of the artifact trees and starting over with Azerite. Of course modern blizzard design leads have no talent or common sense, so that didn’t happen.
or
Alexstrasza Power
I would rather get spell increases each expansion then the expansion specific systems
So you’re incapable of understanding how a revamped talent system could work. Got it.
No it didn’t. Legion was hot garbage until the end of the expansion. And many of us lost good talents.
People want mop spell spread. You can’t rationalize them out of that.
THey said they were gutting to fight button bloat but the systems are pretty much 99% passive abilities
If it has borrowed power I pray Microsoft cleans house and brings in new devs with fresh ideas because at that point it will be blatantly obvious the current team is out of ideas, and this includes Ion if he can’t come up with something outside of borrowed power for the 4th time he needs to be replaced by someone who can and give better direction.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
If they keep tacking on more and more permanent stuff, we end up with a mechanical and balance nightmare. If they give us some toys, then take them away, it feels absolutely awful from a player perspective.
Still, I have to admit I prefer it to the Guildwars2 approach of “no progress whatsoever”. It technically works, but it’s kind of the cowardly way out. For all its many, many, MANY faults, at least it still sort of looks like Blizz is trying.
Talent system didn’t really provide meaningful choice, but it did make leveling satisfying due to the sense of power progression filling out a talent tree provided. They should move to a similar system because of this. Honestly, look at Diablo 4. Diablo 3 was similar to MoP talents and now they’re going back. WoW should follow suit.
Yeah, it’s pretty hard to rationalize people out of desiring a return to when the game was more fun. Imagine that.
Blizzard designers say alot of things. They lie about their intentions constantly. It was to make Artifact trees look more impressive. Idgaf what lie they peddled at the time.
Nighthold and onwards.
Besides 7.3 was 322 days long which was 47% the duration of legion. So it’s not wrong to judge the state of a product when it’s like half of it.
or Arcane Power
You say that now all while pandas scared people away.
That doesn’t change the fact that Blizzard has pulled the same trick of ignoring feedback during beta and then “fixing” each system once they’ve milked as much MAUs as they could before people got fed up for three expansions in a row.
Has nothing at all to do with gameplay. Dumb response.
People leaving because they judged a book by its cover is not the same as people wanting to have the classes during that time back. Like wot.
