Except they do… in dungeon a mage will always top the charts even as frost. Then they swap at max level and still do it.
I’m playing hc rogue and seeing mages just zip and 3 shot everything.
Mages in vanilla have main character syndrome and it’s so obvious.
Being able to do everything makes them unique, having no down time, most mobility, most cc, most damage, most defensive.
Like mage balance in vanilla is ludicrous
Except they don’t. If you’re in a group with mage being the only AOE then sure. You aren’t gonna see a mage in a dungeon topping the charts over a rogue by single target frostbolt spamming. It’s not possible. You also aren’t gonna out dps an arms warrior with sweeping strikes up .
Any class can 3 shot mobs. Dagger rogues, windfury shamans, ele shamans, arms warriors.

No downtime? Have you ever played a mage? Lol. Their mage water while leveling is always bad. They have a ton of downtime which is how I can tell you don’t play mage. It takes 2 full drinks to regen after AOE pulls. It takes 3 drinks to buff a group. They aren’t defensive at all lol. They have a couple cooldowns that help them get out of trouble but so does everyone else. They die in 2 hits with no barrier

The only two tiers of raid that anyone seems to give two craps over on fresh is BWL and MC, anything past that is kinda dead to the point where many guilds are collapsing and merging so the remainders can do AQ and Naxx because that content is scuffed due to the item level being too High and as a result breaking both pve and pvp.
South of AQ the game play is really fun, for basically everyone, hell my group that I play freshservers with usually has an S-Priest for Molten Core and sometimes BWL.
As for AQ / Naxx, tbe easiest way to fix them is nerf the loot down to epic item level 63, they will still slightly out perform BWL loot because the stats are better organised.

Bud, my mage goes OOM and I gotta drink between fights, I’m Poppin mana pots and gems in raid also. We don’t have the best mobility, that is what druid does.
Dragonflight is good the story is just bad.
Dragonriding and the raids are phenomenal, talent trees are the best we’ve ever had.

An aoe class is going to out dps non aoe classes.

No one, but you’re talking about both dungeon and raid, literally no one cares about trash parses, also bring sappers and a warrior with FAP and now that is god mode.
Most of the dungeon you’re clearing trash.
This reminds me when i would run SM and be on my rogue but there would be other rogues running talents to only hit the boss hard

To give a fresh fill… if classic+ is no changes you might as well just release SoM2 with no changes if you don’t want anything different
I agree. This is the opportunity for them to move away from the leveling model. Should be 1-60 leveling and then content/story unlocks via questlines from there.
Retail has been trash since CATA bud.
BFA was one of the worse expacs to any game ever and then they doubled down with Shadow blands.
Dragonfart is on its own level of bad

If your idea of revitalizing fresh is nerfing mages I’d say that’s pretty uncreative.
You can “change stuff” without telling mages they can’t be mages anymore

This they need to stop nerfing things period and bring the trash can specs like Feral up to par in classic.
Cause they’re overtuned and bringing every class up to mage is how you get modern clases.
Vanilla mages might as well be a retail class.
