If Blizz lost 70% of it's customers

Hypothetically speaking what would Blizz do if 70% of it’s player base left wow?

Would they try to do something about it or just not care?

Maintenance mode. Milk the remaining players. Focus on the things making money.

Much like they’re doing now.

if sylvanas is killed off at least 50% if not more would quit. same amount would quit if she didnt die. at this point blizzard put themselves in a situation they are not gonna win over players and will alienate a large amount of players.

Free to play with microtransactions.

I think they have if you compare it to wotlk numbers.

As long as the 30% left keeps buying tokens to buy carries they would not even Blink an eye. Blizzard does not care for the subscriber they care about the token sales.

We’re already there. Now it’s about time played and milking every dollar

Hypothetically speaking if Blizz were to gain 70% more players would threads like this stop? (I’m pretty sure I know the answer to that)

Last I checked Rift is running in absolute bare minimum mode with barely anything happening(if at all) and people still play it. A game doesn’t need millions of people playing, just enough to pay the staff and make some profit.

Pivot to mobile games. They don’t care if a title no longer has players because they are a gaming company. They will pivot to what they see is more popular using the patents/IP that they have.

So if WoW takes a hard dip they just make sure they have other warcraft IP ready to release on different platforms that will be popular.

For example, you’ll notice they have stated they are hiring 2000 devs and that they are also working on warcraft mobile titles.

Combine that info with the decline in users year over year we were shown recently and you see their strategy. WoW is on a steady decline so pivot to mobile which is only increasing.

Exactly whatever they’re doing right now

In the big picture, haven’t they already lost 70% of their player base? I mean this game is a shadow of what it once was in its prime.

And every “classic” they release brings more Kaurmines to the game

Yeah their money capturing model clearly does not revolve around players staying subbed.

Buy the expac
Buy the 6 month promo (which looks good for quarterly reports)
Buy wow tokens
Buy shop items

That’s the business model. More subs the better but it’s not their focus.

Game will go on with or without the majority of players

If everyone here claims to quit and they did for real, I bet these forums would be in better harmony

Except everything you mentioned revolves around subs…

If you aren’t subbed, you aren’t buying wow tokens or shop items. If you aren’t subbed, you obviously don’t have the 6 month promos because… you’re not subbed.

I know the point you’re trying to make here, but it isn’t hitting.

We’re due another 6 month sub time mount at any moment now, just you wait.

lol you really think that many people give two figs about the story?

Because you literally have to be lol.

This isn’t rocket surgery. The point is their sub fee isn’t the meat and potatoes of their revenue anymore like it used to be when they shipped an expac with limited Collector Editions and the rest of the expac was sub fee. Not to mention they had a much higher sub count back then.

Look at how they’ve already begun to monetize classic already. We went from no changes to some changes to CLEARLY PEOPLE WANNA BUY TOYS AND BOOSTS GUYS.

They would just break the emergency lore glass box.

Here’s what you can find in it

“Resurect an important lore character and make them important in the new expansion”
“Activate Nostalgia triggers bring something that was removed”
“Emergency Player Housing Patch”
“Dance Studio Patch”
