Ideology of what a “rank 1” is

Notice how everyone just wants to be a rank 1 nowadays? Gets glad once and they’re now pushing for rank 1 this season, we’ll not sure how realistic that is but good goals I suppose

So What’s a rank 1?
Most people and myself, might say its one who deeply understands/dissects the game and it’s mechanics, usually high exp on 2/3 other toons as well, Adapts to the game, and just masters their class inside out with almost flawless consistency throughout expansions.
Who is the definition of a rank 1?
Vanguards
Smex
Brain
Prevy
Petkick
Metaphors
Gekz
Cdew

You get the picture. Over Multiple expansions over multiple seasons.

Now there’s another subset of rank 1s.

  1. a one time small amount of “merciless” glad or very old seasons that time has just made them so far fetched that it just has no meaning today with how the game was back then and

  2. All bfa rank 1s and sinful rank 1.
    Probably the easiest it has ever been to get a title, play when inflation is high sit when it isn’t.
    Ex: rmpal bfa totally busted, 2 charges of sac, later all three class specs nerfed and people sat for months or boomy dh which was actually just unkillable even by the best rmp’s that remained busted for almost the entire season.

  3. the sinful sitters. You couldn’t have secured it more. Especially pallies early on we’re a totally different class than they were end of season, same with bookies/rogues. Lesson que early season and que it a lot then sit.

Who’s a rank 1 but not really the definition of it? (Will only ever get rank one with two other rank 1s and busted comp, at heart is a duelist-low tier glad at best)

Rmpal Abuser two seasons in a row. Sinful sitter I like to say. Swaps to pally and in one season on it just becomes that good despite never in 10 seasons getting it on his priest, which is why he mains pally now. Removes everyone on friends list only adds r1s so he can get more r1s. The dude never got glad /2700 let alone a rank 1 in his life and randomly gets rank 1? Then another? That’s odd, I wonder if that was streamer benefits. One pally who got rank 1 didn’t even know saved by the light only procs on beacon targets, how is that even possible for a rank 1 pally not to know something so basic to the class, laughable

Nogard- one trick rdruid who abused 0.75 gpies and coil target dead. Gets rank 1 qued w more rank 1s see how this works. Also the only Druid to take months to work up the courage to not play bear form and start playing feral aff in mld thanks to metaphors coaching lol

Phernix- on trick mage only. Hit 2700 achiev and rank 1 in the same season, now that’s some massive improvement

Zugzugtv- played with him multiple times, shows 0 awareness of just about anything positioning is horrid. It’s like he tries to kill himself. Hard coached him how to play vs destros

Axtin - he’s actually an exception. He probably should’ve been rank 1 on feral seasons before he actually did. He’s the only person that has few recent rank 1s that his skill actually was that of a rank 1

Palumor- not rank 1 yet but he will get it this season after being a 2x glad I think? Why? Bc he streams and title is quen 100 days til I get rank 1. Just screams hey rank 1 ppl help me out and they will because they would prolly like to be in a big stream like that
Btw bfa season 4 of arena was literally arena with torgast powers.

Next time you see a rank 1 title note the season and how they aren’t as skilled and godly as some of you weirdos think.

It’s probably just a games played thing. I got glad first season I played, so it’s DEFINITELY doable, but i probably played 300-500 games

Either way, zezima has never been R1 even when his class was brokeback and he regularly lost to all the people he listed. Dude took over 8 seasons for his first gladiator too and is flaming people :thinking:

That being said, there are definitely more gladiators (BFA+) than there were prior to that with the change.

I guess if I cared about r1 I wouldve qued more than 140 games last season finished my last glad win @ 2609 and 2900 mmr and said no interest in pushing in this meta and sat 2609 for 6 months.

i think anyone with a few r1 titles is considered an r1, cheesing it one season doesn’t really ‘qualify’ imo

even if you’re ‘r1’ you can still be terrible a season or two later, what matters is how good you are in the present moment. i can q into players i used to look up to and laugh at how bad they are in the current game

i mean last season i q’d at 2.5-2.6 mmr and was only 2300 might as well be a gladiator

You honestly have one of the most disgusting egos ever. Rank 1 is whoever blizz says is rank 1. That’s that. If they’ve only been rank 1, during one season, then, they were rank 1 for that season. Your feelings doesn’t change the fact they earned rank 1 for that season. There is never any perfect balance, some comps are stronger than others for certain seasons. Rank 1 still has to beat mirror comp all the way to their achieved CR, therefore, even if the comp was busted, they were the best at playing the busted comp.

and another thing, what is up with everybody thinking its not okay to que with good players if you’re playing in good player range? Like legit, what do you want them to do, que with people 300 rating below them and then take them to rank 1? Get real dude, they’re all good players and worthy of playing with one another. Pretty sure you don’t take randoms with you to rank 1 yourself.

Sounds like you want R1 to be gatekept by repeat R1’s. Who honestly cares if someone was a glad player and got coached on how to be better? Aren’t we all trying to get better? Isn’t that the point?

Posts on an alt so can’t be called out for arena inadequacy then proceeds to call out some of the better players in NA for accomplishing legit feats.

Spacerat is incredibly good at the game. RMP abuser? Where is your rank 1 playing RMP? It’s like all the people in BFA that said “LoL MaGe LoCk FreE gLaD” meanwhile they can’t get glad playing mage lock.

The only people that sit around pretending like Rank 1’s don’t deserve their rank ones are losers. Period end of story. A large part of being rank 1 outside of the obvious game aptitude it takes is having the resilience to Q this game over and over and over again. Not everyone has that in them and it’s an overlooked aspect of what is required to get Rank 1.
